You and a million people disagree with that notion. That being said leads to it being the least valued genre right now because it appears anyone can do it.

If anyone can rap anyone can sing too :gucci:. Also if anyone could do it why pay for ghostwriters?

Anyone can do doesn’t mean anyone can do it well. There are thoughts and ideas better than our own.

If someone told me Lupe or one of my favorite battle rappers had ghostwriters or people really penning bars and verses i'm giving up on hip hop

I mean they tried to say Nas got writers on untitled so :yeshrug:

I’d just look at the stuff he didn’t get help on and keep it moving

Y'all might as well stop listening to rap altogether then because you already know a lot of y'all favorites have had some shyt written for them. It's just been kept secret

You also gotta realize that there are levels to this whole ghostwriting issue.
I think people who are really just selling the image having all of their material written by someone else are very rare and most of them are completely open about that like Dre, P. Diddy or Eazy E.
But at the same time Im sure that every major rapper who has been in the game for a long time now has had some songs or verses here n there written for them.

There's a small number of rappers that I would feel a type of way about if I found out but then on the flip side, I don't believe any (mainstream) rapper has written 100% of their rhymes. Maybe 99%, but not 100%

I don't believe for 1 second that somebody like eLZhi has had help but he was in a group and I know in a group setting ideas are bounced off of each other all the time so maybe he's had a few lines/bars thrown his way.

I don't believe Wale would ever need help with bars but maybe Ross and/or Meek has thrown him a line or 2.

I don't believe Eminem would ever need help but maybe he's had a line from Royce/ D12 thrown his way and vice-versa.

There's levels to this shyt.

If I found out Jay has writers I'd definitely look at him funny. It would feel like a scam. Then on top of it, im always going to wonder who wrote what. Nobody wants to do that when your supposed to be listening to a hip hop Mastermind.

The fun in listening to nikkas spit is that sense of pride when your guy is still talking that shyt. Every bar they craft and execute is like watching your favorite ball player hit a shot. If you found out Jordan was using some wild intricate cheating system to have an unfair advantage, you wouldn't even want to really like J's anymore. Nobody likes a cheater. You can't having people call you a goat in this game knowing your pen is tainted.
