I'm 36 and seriously considering taking a karate class.

I got a black belt in Tang Soo Do, brown belt in TKD (a legit school) and take Muay Thai and BJJ. Tang Soo Do and TKD are Korean.

Stand-up and ground all have their plusses and minuses. Long as you got solid training that's the most important. I been focusing on ground (BJJ) lately just to switch it up after being in striking for so long. Though I still practice striking as well.

No matter where you go, do your research, check the lineage of the owner/instructor and take advantage of the free classes. Do they spar? Is the instructor involved? Are there a bunch of kid black belts (huge red flag).

Shotokan and Kyokushin are really good styles if you find one near you. Those are Japanese.

Try to pace yourself and enjoy. Don't get frustrated.

Breh just do boxing and get a gun at this point
I like a lot of the boxing workouts I've done in the past but I'm not thrilled about getting punched in the face or vice versa. I like striking and jumping rope tho so maybe I should revisit that.

I also need to get a gun. I'm too old to actually be fighting out here. At this point, if it's that serious then it needs to just be handled :manny:

:snoop: I'm conflicted. I'm not new to exercise or anything but I love rap. I found myself surfing the net for classes (already showing my age by using this phrasing) and realized that I'm toeing the line of being a tae bo ho.

:sadcam: I might just do this on YouTube in case Nas decides to diss me one day.
Call Richard Simmons. He can help you out. :myman:
