there's nothing wrong with what @Silver Surfer did..i mean they brought him to see if he did know his shyt...there are IT cats out there who are actually learning everything from book and doing it on their own but their resumes dont add up...I know 2 people specifically who got jobs based off actually showing and proving..he could have been a savant which if that was the case im sure they could have worked with him on salary..but people dont up and make 120K off the bat out of college with little experience...its a small percentage..nothing wrong with a reality check

Lol word its brehs struggling to get 9 dollar an hr help desk gigs.

I then went to a situation question.

I said "if a business partner has a requirement for you to retrieve lets say 1 million rows from a DB table and display that on a UI. How would you efficiently retrieve those rows and bring them back to the browser without it crashing?:steviej:

*There are a few ways this can be achieved...I just wanted him to talk through it to see where his head is at

I said "you can do your design on the whiteboard":sas1:

You could split the query up into small queries. As the user scrolls to the bottom, load more UI stuff a little at a time.

Have a background service that caches the information so you won't have to keep reloading the same data if you close the page.

Nah man...use 1 query...just make it dynamic for pagination....send back page # and # of records per page that way the query only grabs a specifi resultset.

Or have this functionality built in conjunction with a javascript libray that know to do an ajax call when you scroll to the bottom..it has to be smart to know where it's at

OP is correct, Dev2's don't make that kind of money. He has a business admin. degree asking for $120k with 1 year experience? I'd throw that divas app out.

:ohlawd:The most I got for a software engineer job was 80$ an hour. I didnt know shyt.

I got paid and GTFO there I was lucky cause it was like 10 other folks hired at the same time.... they did all the work:whew:

They were probably talking mad shyt about me lol

On a 1099 that direct deposit hit my account atleast 14000 in one month. I was emailing the HR person all kinds of hours 60-70 lol.

I have a good gig now, so I actually focus on doing work the proper way. All that finessing will catch up to someone soon.

We had a guy like that...he got "summoned" to help us with an uograde....dude got exposed..he was making $91 hour....no joke...

To be fair this isn't much different than when I get calls from head hunters and they are like:

Head Hunter: We saw your resume online we wondering if you were interested in XYZ? :shaq:

What's the full job description and requirements? :usure:

Head Hunter: *says requirements* would you be interested? What is your current rate?

Me: *Tells rate*

Head Hunter: :merchant: :sadcam: :whoo: have a good day sir, if you have any friends that may be interested let us know.

These people know not to come at me sideways trying to get my skills at a Groupon rate.

Young breh was just trying to get over like the rest of us @Silver Surfer

After you roast tell him where he went wrong.

did you give the first breh some much need advice or help him solve the problem afterwards? I know you didnt owe him anything especially since he came to the interview unprepared
but it might have helped him down the line
