Why are yall even interviewing dude if he is so underqualified for the position? The more I think about it the more this whole thing seems a waste of time and a reflection of poor leadership. Yall aint got better shyt to do than dress down overly underqualified candidates?

Hes not under-qualified for Dev 1-2.

His salary requirements are suspect.....

A reputable company or department wouldn't even waste time bringing in a candidate unless they felt their skills and compensation requests were both reasonable.

He is asking for a lot..... Salary.com says that position should be like 80-90K and Salary.com is usually higher than real life. But again, that's not due cause to "roast his azz"

Title of the thread isn't "Dude Im interviewing wants too much money".... its "Im about to interview a breh who is asking for 120k salary".... seems like the mere idea of someone asking for that money pissed you off regardless of his qualifications and you are looking to punish him for daring to ask that much

Not to mention unless u have significant ownership stake in the company, or you aren't making anywhere near what dude is asking, why do you give a fukk what he asks or makes. You are just coming off real salty and haterish.

Finishing CS soon and I wouldn't even ask for that much. This guy came with a weak resume and CIS degree asking for 6 figures, starting. Yeah, he is crazy.

And yet he apparently got the damn interview. :jbhmm:

If you ask me, if a resume is weak, and the salary demands are too high, and he's not even as qualified on paper as the last dude before him who shat the bed, I'm not even sure how he got anywhere outside of the realm of bushery. Must've been a beast ass cover letter (which are fukking pointless in my mind :camby:) or he knows the right people. Either way, something's not adding up.

Not that it matters that much anyway. In a world where more and more job applicants virtually have the same level of overqualification/experience, it generally comes down to who is liked best/the best interview. It's become clear this kid doesn't have much shot of getting past OP. I can see how this would be described as crab behavior, but if he's asking that much off the rip, it has to be cost of living related OR he considers himself some kind of prodigy and if it's the latter, then a hiring manager wouldn't be wrong to expect more from him than from any other candidate. Granted I don't know the going rate for that field.

Still, this seems to reek of "I didn't get paid that much when I started, so this nikka damn sure ain't gettin' it :stopitslime:"

As far as I'm concerned, though, you're wasting your time and his by interviewing him AT ALL.

A few points...

1) How recent he is removed from graduating college makes no difference whatsoever for Dev positions. I keep saying this, you do not learn how to be a Dev in college, you learn how that in a field
2) Sadly he has very little to no experience
3) His resume is weak as well. To ask for that kind of money, you need to attach a strong portfolio of your work and let that speak for itselt.
4) But without years of experience in a corporate environment, he's overshooting by asking 120k.

But... as I always say... the worst that can happen is that you say no.

Hell I asked for 30k+ what they were offering for a Systems Engineer position, thinking that there would be no way they would say yes and that would give me an excuse to leave the company.
They came back with 27k+ but I would have to move to Oklahoma.

I was like... ok :leon:

Dude said the salary request is ridiculous, he just graduated and has a thin resume. Why even bring him in for the interview then? Something isn't adding up.
Op is miserable. Dude probably getting a kick out of having the power to dictate this young mans future with the company he works for.
