When i was a young nikka in my innocence, pre-porn, i clasped my hands together, closed my eyes and prayed to God, Jesus, desperately asking for help for my chronic illness. and guess what... nothing happened.
you learn to accept your flaws but your faith goes out the window.

Prayer ain't a 'get out of struggle free' card. The world is what it is. Untold numbers of people who faithfully believe in God have been murdered, suffered genocide, had struggles, etc. The apostles themselves were killed by the people or the government. I've dealt with horrific things in my own life. Things I begged God to prevent or take away and that I even spent time being furious with him for not doing. But ultimately its about relationship. Some things get fixed, some don't. I've seen some semi miraculous things and some things I don't know why they were allowed to happen. But the connection and relationship I have with God, imperfect as it often is, helps me when I'm going through things and even when I'm not.
So, what you’re saying is things are always going to play out how they’re going to play out but you mentally psyche yourself out so that when good things happen it was because of god but when bad things happen it wasnt god that made it happen; but rather he will help get you out of that bad situation?
No, thats not what I am saying. I actually said literally none of that lol. I'm saying we live in a fallen world full of people making their own choices and those choices affect us. Prayer is not about having a wishmaker available to me. It is about connecting with God and building a relationship with him so that whatever happens in my life, I'm walking through it with God. Do I question God at times? Course I do. Do I always get an answer I want? No. But I do always get to connect with my creator and that's why prayer is important first and foremost. And the thing is the church is supposed to be a place for likeminded folks to get together, its not supposed to be a replacement for actual relationship with God himself which is the actual main point of Christianity, a personal relationship with God.
Yeah there may be differences but they all are still Christian, praying to the same God. If that God is real then he's clearly answering certain prayers over others.
