These self-professed "nice guys" are too caught up in their own insecurities to understand the situation. You're also confusing "nice guy" with "provider." Nice guys can form strong emotional connections with girls who like those type of guys, providers cannot; they simply provide resources for her and her family. Providers are always second choice.

Single mothers don't like "providers" any more than other women but they may understand their necessity and value more than other women.
