whilst i like some of Conways stuff it does seem to mostly revolve around how much guns he's got an how he's going to shoot you....maybe with a sprinkle of how much drugs he shots....

you cant deny there was a lot more diversity around back in the day....

could go from some 2pac to some Grand Puba, then from some Biggie to some MC Eiht, then maybe some Lords of the Underground, Dogg Pound, Wu Tang, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Ice Cube, Redman, CNN, Jeru the Damaja.......

all made classic albums that were very different......

Conway's got some songs where he speaks about other shyt, like getting shot and overcoming that, he might have more when his official album drops.

As you get older you (hopefully) start to realize the content in the vast majority of rap pushed to the masses is on some low level, juvenile, bottom of the barrel shyt (this is by design btw). And then with today's racial tensions you realize how stupid and c00nish it is to be singing and dancing along to black rappers rapping about shooting and killing other black people and bragging about how much dope they've flooded black communities with. It really is a modern Minstrel Show in a sense:

I can easily see why ppl "outgrow" rap music.

I personally will never stop listening to rap (not the BS on the radio). I like highly lyrical rappers with diverse messages that make you think. I love studying and dissecting lyrics and rhyme schemes/patterns.

I'm not done with hip-hop but I fully understand where OP is coming from.

The one thing I'm against in hip hop is the negativity of drugs, guns and killing in the music. The content has to evolve, and these record labels are profiting off this negative behavior. And you got kids following the stuff these artists are rapping about.

Roughly 85-90% of this site has been done with Hip Hop. Hip Hop in 2017 simply means general entertainment. I could post a rapper talking about random things from their instagram live and the thread will go ten pages deep with comments. I can post a song from that same rapper and the thread will get zero replies.
