This fool cop wrote me a ticket for speeding. I was on my way out of town, and I was speeding to get to the cleaners to get my clothes before they closed.

So I admit to speeding.

But this fool also wrote me a "reckless driving" ticket. So I have 2 tickets. :gucci:

If it was just the speeding ticket, I'd pay that no problem, but I'm not about to pay two tickets, the hell. It's the principle. :dahell:

I've gotten a couple of speeding tickets a decade ago and I never got a speeding ticket and gotten a "reckless driving" ticket on top of that. The hell do that even mean?

I wasn't driving crazy, zig zagging or all over the road or putting anybody in danger. I was literally just speeding. :what:

Anyway, my court date is this week. Anybody fought a ticket? Tell me what I need to do and say.

Hire a cheap lawyer. Or just hope the officer doesn’t show up. Speeding tickets they typically will knock down as long as you weren’t wilding out (+20 mph or higher whatever the limit was during the infraction).

That reckless driving though :patrice: you might up the river with no paddle

in california they can get you for reckless driving if you're going more than 15 mph over the speed limit

:patrice:
It's funny, cuz out here (Bay Area) we usually drive like 15-20 over the limit on the regular.
But I'd just show up, cuz he may not.

*Edit*
But I'ma keep it real tho. I've gotten tickets and never paid them off iml. Idk what kinda favor the most high showing to me but, man! I done been pulled over hella times (w/ fat ass bundles lol) and allat and my L's never come up suspended or anything. shyt not in collections either. I'm actually kinda scared to check my shyt cuz I don't want to alert them.

Wait a couple months and then contest it in writing. You’ll have to pay the fine upfront but once/if you’re found innocent they’ll send you a refund via check fairly quickly. I’ve beat about three or four tickets like this. Cops get paid overtime when you contest in court and they show up, but most of them barely passed high school and don’t have the time or capacity to write a full dissertation to prove your guilt.

Speed limits are a scam. All these states expect you to drive way over the speed limit. There was an infamous story about 10-15 years ago these drivers formed a wall somewhere in the DMV corridor and drove exactly the speed limit during rush hour. They created huge traffic jams because cars couldn't clear the metros fast enough.

I've honestly never cared enough to fight a traffic ticket.

Not sure if it's true or not but I've heard a lot of the time you can beat traffic ticket cases just by showing up to court. They say cops won't bother showing up a lot of time so you can just win by default. Obviously something like that isn't guaranteed though.

Plead not guilty at the hearing, file a motion for discovery to get the officer notes, 90% of the time they never give you the Info by the time you go back to court so you request the case be dismissed. If they do give you the info you can pull the prosecutors aside and work a deal to change the charge so you'll just pay a fine for an equipment violation instead of a traffic violation. Explain to them you want to avoid points on your license for insurance reasons and they'll do it. Also look up the local laws, speeding usually requires a calibrated laser or radar so when you motion for discovery you have to get the info of the calibration of the device used, thats commonly the way to get out of window tint tickets. If they were pacing you it's different but also note the weather conditions etc, if the officer wrote it was clear but it was foggy or raining all that stuff gets taken into consideration.
