Bucktown
best line on the album was end of mural.

Simple as a Buddhist monk in a temple standing in some heel groove with the abbot, practising stillness
Real still till he realizes his realness
Defeat Samsara achieves nirvana and brilliance

:wow:

Honestly, that's not even wordplay
that's Shaolin Play
it's not even elite hip hop, because for it to be elite it couldn't be such profound graphical lyrics describing something of such granularity
How often do you see that?

nobody rhymes like that

stop it and listen to the music. this is not poetry alone. this is hiphop. it all goes together. music + the lyrics. not one without the other. and dont listen once and report back. listen 20 times then report back.
isn't Lupe known for his lyrics, though?

I haven't heard the songs yet, but reading through his lyrics, I'm not sure what feelings he's trying to evoke with them

He's trying to impress easily impresed nerds who will eulogize him for making a bunch of obscure random references and label him a genius, to appeal to a nerd hardcore stan demographic, that's the problem with the project, think he even says nerd gang in some of the bars, what hurts it is it's not about making it potent effective lyrics or songmaking it's about trying to impress those people, so it sounds manufactured and forced, because it is.

You can't just not like something because you don't understand it.
sure you can. thats the reason poor white folks in middle america and the south have always hated on black folks. they didnt understand us when we were half naked in africa. they didnt understand us when they brought us here. and they barely understand us now. if you get one in a room alone and hook them up to a lie detector test and ask them "why do you hate/dislike black folks? once you get to the bottom of the answer it will boil down to "i dont really understand why they are how they are."

its called ignorance. ignorance will make people hate things they are ignorant of and about.

yes he is. this is still hiphop. this aint a new era battle where guys are going acapella all off beat. you cant just this album by just reading off a sheet of paper. absorb the entire album. then come to your own conclusion.

Pompous bullsh!t that I would expect from a member of Lupe's nerd stanbase. Equate whites hating blacks with people that don't like Tetsuo and Youth brehs.

And if you actually listen to how Bis is spitting it is MUCH higher on an MC level....
can i ask you why did you post what i already told you about Can-i? what did i say? i said Can is a Battle rapper, thats battle rapping to beats. That has its place. Lupe is a Poet rapping to Beats, that has its place. yes there has been songs where can-i talked about societal ills and himself his people. but for the most part his entire zone is battle rapping. going hard on the mic, putting a bunch of crazy words together to paint a picture of how ill he is and how weak his competition is. and dont try to post other types of songs. i said i know he has SOME. but we know him as can the battle rapper.
Lupe is talking to black people about themselves, about himself. Trying to get an understanding why we are how we are. Who are we? then he's answering the question with his own take. there has been times he's even stated who we should be or attempt to become.
I'm sorry but one of these rappers are rapping about something of substance while the other guy is just rapping(for the most part).

Thats like you comparing takeover vs Where Have You Been off the dynasty album. Twooooo completely different types of songs. both dope in their own right. but if i need food for thought. it wont be a battle rap. thats all i'm saying. sometimes i wake up just needing to hear some hard a... battle rapping lyricism. i'll call Can for that and not lupe. But if i need some introspective type hiphop. I got lupe on speed dial.

wrong. post what i replied TO. vs taking what i said out of context. STOP IT. i said ignorance of something can incite HATE for something.

this is a proven fact. things WE(people) dont understand a lot of time we hate it.

the race thing was too harsh for you. fine.

Math is the boogie man for most people. WHy? because they dont UNDERSTAND it. Therefore they say "I HATE MATH."

Some of you dont understand Lupe on this album so you think "I hate this album". Not all of you that dont like it. but some really dont get it. so you dont like it. you cant like something you dont get i guess because you dont know what to like about it. me personally, even if i dont get every nuance i can get a smidget in the first listen or two. then i start to find deeper meaning as a i peel back the layers. that is something i appreciate. again maybe thats not you. maybe you like all of your stuff upfront and center in your face.

ay, I liked Transformers the movie. just blow up some stuff. transform and all that. keep it simple. hot chick, robots, and explosions. whats not to like?

but i also liked The matrix. still stuff blowing up, still all sorts of crazy effects. but there was a much deeper meaning in that movie then the transformers. I personally appreciate them doing it like that.

If you think the tracks I posted are just battle rapping you have no idea what you are talking about. Stick to the just a baby bars man, ain't ready for Bis lol.

Jokes aside, yeah like I said, far from just battle bars, I don't even know how you could even attempt to say that, I really don't, Poet Laureate 2 is just battle bars? Really?. It's a higher level than anything Lupe has ever done in his career.

I'm not even going to bother carrying on, cause what you said is too absurd for me to dignify it with more of a response lol.
