wrong. post what i replied TO. vs taking what i said out of context. STOP IT. i said ignorance of something can incite HATE for something.

this is a proven fact. things WE(people) dont understand a lot of time we hate it.

the race thing was too harsh for you. fine.

Math is the boogie man for most people. WHy? because they dont UNDERSTAND it. Therefore they say "I HATE MATH."

Some of you dont understand Lupe on this album so you think "I hate this album". Not all of you that dont like it. but some really dont get it. so you dont like it. you cant like something you dont get i guess because you dont know what to like about it. me personally, even if i dont get every nuance i can get a smidget in the first listen or two. then i start to find deeper meaning as a i peel back the layers. that is something i appreciate. again maybe thats not you. maybe you like all of your stuff upfront and center in your face.

ay, I liked Transformers the movie. just blow up some stuff. transform and all that. keep it simple. hot chick, robots, and explosions. whats not to like?

but i also liked The matrix. still stuff blowing up, still all sorts of crazy effects. but there was a much deeper meaning in that movie then the transformers. I personally appreciate them doing it like that.

You insinuated that people that don't like the album are ignorant. I did not place anything out of context. If one of the reasons they don't like it because it's "puzzle rap" then so what? That's not ignorance, it's just not the brand of rap they like. Going as far as relating that to whites hating blacks is overblown stan bullsh!t.

i didnt insinuate anything. i was responding to someone elses response. pull that info first. then read what i said. someone else said you cant dislike something because you cant understand it. i said YES YOU CAN. and here's how/why. nothing i said was incorrect. pay attention before you post.

if you feel insulted its because you feel ignorant to what lupe is saying. Thats the truth of it. There's is no way yall can make me feel insulted when talking about a lyricist that i dont like there's been a few so called lyricist that people have said i should vibe with and i didnt. because i didnt think they were that great PERSONALLY. but it was never because they had "puzzle raps". ANy time you say something like that. you sound IGNORANT. someone who doesnt know whats being said therefore they dont like it. its like because i'm speaking in chinese you dont like me speaking because you cant understand it. dont hate on my chinese. Learn chinese then grade my speech.

see i would agree with you B-oshh. but the problem is they dont think its good for the same reason "puzzle raps" aka " i dont feel like unraveling the riddles. i just want to party and bullshh(..biggie)."

but i have to keep stating the facts. this generation as a whole. NOT ALL. but most. cant appreciate an album like this because your ears are messed up from all the party & bullshh music you've been listening to for the past 5 years. what do you think happens to a person that was born and raised on party and bullshhh songs? eventually they either start searching for hiphop before their era. stop listening to hiphop altogether or they fold and say forget it... this is all i got. so i'm going to force myself to enjoy it. and thats what has happend. the last part. yall have forced yourselves into loving this cotton candy music. so when some real food for thought comes along with the steak and veggies. its too much for you. shoot, its like feeding a starving african kid a steak out of the blue. he would die eating an entire steak out of no where. you first have to start him slow on oatmeal and then work your way up to steak and veggies.

but truth is, hiphop did that for you. kendrick warmed you up, cole put some more heat on the fire. then lupe came thru and with the hot coals and the bbq sauce. lets eat.

but because the other 2 are not as lyrical as lupe its still too much for yall.

Uh....where to even begin with this shyt....

If you took any rap from the "golden era"....let's say the 80's, or 90's....it sounds nothing like this Lupe album. So the idea that people got used to simple lyrics, and that's why they don't like this is :heh: as hell.

Let's look at the 90's for example....Outkast, BONE, Pac, Wu, BIG, Jay-Z, Nas....none of their shyt sounded like this. "Illmatic" doesn't sound like this. "Death Certificate" doesn't sound like this. "Ready To Die" doesn't sound like this. You new-to-rap dudes need to stop trying to rewrite history.

The only albums that sounded remotely similar to this, were very obscure underground albums the vast majority of rap fans didn't give two shyts about.

Now, if you dig this kind of music that's great....but it in no way reflects "real hip-hop", or hip-hop in general, at any point in the last 40 years. It's an extremely niche kind of rap for a handful of people.

To make things worse....Walt had a rambling, nonsensical post praising Lupe in the official thread....which made zero sense....he was just kinda piecing random shyt together to go with random bars....essentially parodying Lupe....and Lupe's biggest fans not only Dapped him....they quoted him like :ohhh:"this guy gets it".

http://www.thecoli.com/posts/11985420/

Half of you dudes jocking this album don't give a fukk about hip-hop, you care about how smart this album makes you look to other people. The only reason you even have a forum to discuss it, is because of forums. The internet. This album would not be on anyone's radar the month a "Doggystyle", "Midnight Marauders", "Follow The Leader", or hell any accepted "golden era" album came out. So please knock this "you got used to simple lyrics" shyt off.

wrong again. i can see some of yall catching feelings for not understanding this man's album. therefore it makes us ELITIST because we do and we are telling you, if you actually took the time to get it you might not hate it like you say you do. because the only reason you dislike it is "your own words" you dont understand it(calling it puzzle rap).

yall exposed yourselves. dont get mad at us. if i thought something was puzzle raps, i sure as hell wouldnt say that out loud. that would make me look like a person thats afraid of knowledge. like if everything isnt straight forward i cant figure it out. if it aint 2+2=4. i dont want it. thats the kind of mentality you should keep to yourself. otherwise you run the risk of feeling like someone is talking down to you or being elitist. when in reality we're saying this was a nice piece of art. you're not saying you thought the painting was trash. you're saying since you dont understand the image thats been painted you dont like the painting. we say, LEARN about the image then come back and let us know how you feel. you dont have to just sit and dwell in your ignorance. and then here you go talking about it doesnt compare to classics from the golden era. who said it did? no one. i told yall from day one. its a classic for this era. it sits up there with kendricks album, coles last album. 1, 2, and 3 being Lupe's new album. and i will stand by that. Now hellls not it doesnt hold a candle to any of that golden era classic music. thats nothing to discuss. cause neither does kendrick's album. and neither does coles last album. so again for THIS era. its a very good album.

This is a very good post. In many ways.

By the way I quoted Walt's post in the thread laughing and saying it was 1 of the best posts I've seen on the forum and the Lupe stans dapped me lmao, I think most of them STILL think it was a real post lmao.

I'm reading your posts and thinking you can't be serious. It's not catching feelings, it's just an opinion, that statement is a projection cause YOUR catching feelings. What if you understand the album like I do and still think it's not great? You don't understand why some don't like the album because your knowledge isn't up to par, and I'm not dissing you, I'm just telling you the truth, maybe you will understand 1 day, maybe you won't. But you don't know more than the truly authentic HipHoppas, I would venture I could ask you 10 Hip Hop questions and you would struggle without google. You are acting elitist but without the necessary knowledge to back up the confidence, in this case arrogance. Puzzle rap does NOT mean you don't understand it, it means it's put together in such a way it is a puzzle for you to solve, to many, infact most that is boring, I don't do crossword puzzles for instance, not because I don't know the answers but cause I don't find them enjoyable, the majority don't listen to music to solve puzzles, they listen to vibe to, to emotionally relate to them, something they can FEEL and MOVE them either physically or emotionally. This album doesn't even move me intellectually, it's kindergarten level to me, there's more complex lyricism I listen to if I want to listen to more abstract bars that are more effective. I think many of the Lupe stans don't have a broad range of Hip Hop so this shyt is new to them, for me I've heard all this shyt done 100 times better so it doesn't impress me in the slightest.

You saying you wouldn't say something out loud also says a lot, you are concerned with image and appearance and how your intellect comes across to others. I'm not, if I don't like something I'm not gonna front and say I do cause I think it makes me sound smart, I know I'm smart so I have nothing to prove. The problem is you won't accept someone won't like the album so are inventing reach and ridiculous reasons why you feel they don't. I broke down previously why I don't like the album in depth, and none of the reasons were cause of what you said.

Nah man, al BUM.... bum is at the BACK of your body which is a subtle indication to play it backwards to enjoy the sheer majesty of the work. They just don't understand, this is Picasso, this is Da Vinci, they don't understand the numerous dualities and entendres at work so can't appreciate it, dumb ignorant rap fans, I'm a P.H.D in nerdism so after going on Rap Genius I understood the whole al BUM reference... that's a poetic clue to the puzzle, because backwards the hieroglyphics of the album formulate the answers to the riddles of the Earth and solve the meaning of life. So it doesn't just RAIN.. it rains like a SLIGHT chance of rain.... when it's raining... . a slight chance so not a full chance of rain, cause you know, it might not rain, it shows you can't predict the weather, even as a weather man... or weather woman (no sexism here) so that indicates you can't predict the weather of life, the hefty storms or the torrid typhoons.

"I'm talking wave like saying hey man"

Wow.. cause you know when you see a brother across the street and you say hey.. man, it's like you waving to them to stop the stagnation of their life, and he didn't mean hey like horses hay as he said in the next line, see how ILL he is to explain that, cause other less genius artists could be confused, but he let us KNOW with the incredible wordplay it was not horses hay he was referring to but the more complex "hey... man"

Wow..........
