The Kobe hate is becoming as retarded as the Kobe stanning. Why in fukking hell would he take a paycut? Any NBA superstar with a major franchise who sells out arenas during the regular season and playoffs is worth exponentially more than he is paid.

To get something he wants that HIS money can't buy...

:manny:

He wants things to be one way... But it's the other way...

So if Kobe and gasol played for free so the lakers could add three more Mac players to the squad, that makes them competitors?

Nah, that makes them guys that take the easy way

A real competitor has the confidence to take what they deserve and still feel they can win

Naw, I disagree. Some people sell themselves and their services to the highest bidders, others consider other things when making life decisions. I could make a whole lot more in sales than I do in social services but I love what I do, so I'm satisfied with taking less. What Kobe is doing isn't being competitive IMO, it's saying money first and we'll see what happens. Ya'll can try to spin that shyt anyway you want but that's not being competitive. It's pretty much an easy decision. Either take less and compete for championships or take the max you can get and be a 1st round exit. I'm not blaming him for taking more but it's showing that winning isn't everything to him at this point which is fine if that's how he wants to play out his final few seasons.

And tell me again, why won't they amnesty him?

Because they just amnestied MWP.

And Kobe's contract is up this year so he has to negotiate a new one in the summer of 14. Trust, its going to get ugly, but he's going to end up getting a 2 year/$30m contract. Just watch.

You guys act like he's going to get max. That's not feasible. He is going to get what he can though.

when he aint top 5 scoring, carrying a team in favor a French pg and a roster half full of younger capable role players, we can talk about justifying a pay cut.

And what lebron is doing is saying "I want to win, give me a better supporting cast than any other star in the league. I'm willing to give up money to have the best teammates around me to help me win"

I don't consider that competitive, but if you do I understand.

Mickey arrison and spoelstra don't take paycuts

I think megastars taking cuts sets a bad precedent and could drive down their salaries when they're already underpaid

Breh, Lakers/Kobe straight up lucked into Gasol..without that cluster fukk Kobe would still be sitting on 3 "Shaq" rings with Odom's emotional ass being the 2nd best player. Not every player can rely on that kinda fluke to determine their legacy.

1st of all you dumb asses Kobe is only gonna get what he is able to negotiate. He is 35 yrs-old and coming off achilles tendon surgery. He is no longer a young superstar in his prime. He would not be gettin nowhere near the contract he got in 04 for these reasons. He knows this but he's not gonna come out say he's takin a minimum deal :what:

Why would he do that?

He has to try and get as much as he can. Its a business. What team is gonna give Kobe a max deal at this stage?

Exactly, people act like he's asking for the same contract he's got now.

Dude basically said he's not negotiating against himself. Very smart move.

It was written

God wanted Kobe to have more rings bruh

Actually

Lakers would have had cap space to sign an all star plus Marc gasol had they not traded for pau

Ok, Metta's not amnestied yet. My question still stands. Why not amnesty a player that won't play the full year, and will demand a high salary next? Kobe will be overpaid for the majority of his new deal.

One, the Lakers FO won't amnesty him this because the fans would revolt. You don't make the face of franchise angry but waiving his biggest contract year of his career with fans already facing a bleak season. Just eat the tax and move on. Second, they'll be able to talk Kobe down if they explain the cap situation in the right way. Eventually he'll get cut down to $13-15m/yr, which may be overpaid but the Lakers will still have good space IMO.
