Nap, I generally agree with all your points on illegal immigration. I'm a legal immigrant and people "cutting the line" is such bullshyt in my eyes. There are quota systems in place for a reason. We need to be able to support and assimilate new immigrants and with undocumented persons thats impossible to do. The way some people in this country lump illegal and legal immigrants into the same category is disgusting. People care more about being politically correct than looking out for their interests and their liberty. I'm 100% for legal immigration. I'm 100% against illegal immigration. It took my family 3-5 years to get the OK to come over here. Plenty of harmful shyt could have happened during that waiting period. Thats life. I believe in nation-states and borders are defined. If you want to cross over into our border, you play by our rules. Its that simple and millions of legal immigrants were able to fulfill their obligations to becoming citizens so illegals should not be exempt.

You will never go broke betting on government incompetence, but the idea that legal immigrants and legal residents will just get swept up in the deportation wave is absurd. Almost as absurd as the idea of deporting 11 million people. It's not going to happen. But the caping for illegal immigration is something I really don't understand. If your friends, family or coworkers have committed an illegal act, the state has the right to punish them. It's often sad, but it's not unjust. We can talk about effective methods to prevent this sad situation from happening in the future, but to act as though it's evil to call for enforcement of borders is nuts. Especially coming from the people who are on the front lines of the economic repercussions of these shytty immigration policies.

Again, Trump's language was inappropriate and disturbing, but the idea behind the policy is defensible. The state has a right to enforce and defend its borders. America has some of the most trash borders in the world. Illegal immigration is not tolerated in any other nation on the planet.

It's true that @ThreeLetterAgency has no friends in real life and is basically the Ted Cruz of HL

But on the flip side @Swavy Karl Marx, @AyahuascaSippin and the like have yet to explain how being lax on illegal immigration benefits legal American citizens. Even if they don't commit crime more than natives, uncontrolled immigration from Central America is a net drag on the US economy, as well as a pretty obvious undermining of worker's rights and strength in the US. We can't deny the atrocities taking place in the likes of Honduras and El Salvador- I've claimed many times the shyt going on there is no better than ISIS' work in the ME- but opening our borders won't do shyt to solve that problem either. That language was ugly and overboard and statistically wrong, and he deserves to be criticized for it, but the dominant narrative coming out is that Trump hates Latinos (and somehow even African-Americans) because of that statement. That seems like a spurious claim to me. There are Latino-Americans who immigrated legally, so to lump all Latinos into the illegal immigrant category is iffy to me. If I was a Latino-American citizen of legal standing, what would I have to fear from Trump's immigration policy?

Brehs i live in Los Angeles and I can tell you that there are some latinos that get offended when people assume all they care about is immigration. Do you think Latinos that have lived here in the US for 2-3 generations like seeing our streets look like trash, finding no parking on blocks cause 4 families live in one house on every block and legitimate stores replaced with swap meets with names like gigante??
