I'm sorry but...listening to rock really trivializes the talent of a rap producer

:comeon: This song was inspired by DJ Shadow, a Hiphop/electronic music producer, post something else to make your point

Agreed 100%.. Everybody has preferences but that doesn't make one genre of music better than another

What's with all this dated 90s rock influences rearing its head in The Booth?

If I wanted discussion on Tool I'd head back 16 years to when they were relevant . And discuss them outside of a Hip Hop forum .

It's like some of you dudes have come in majorly late and are suddenly latching onto expired alternative rock bands. Trying to gas them up on here like it's impressive 20 years later.

but then again, dudes like Kanye and Dr Dre are known to have others chime in with their guitars, pianos or drums or whatever and also help with instruments.

And Imo those productions >>>> these rock productions op talking about

Tool? Really? You think Tool is representative of a 'good' production of a rock album?

i do agree that most hiphop producers(especially those, most who rely on sampling) are no where near as talented as actual composers & musicians who start from scratch.

:rudy:.....it really depends on what you like to hear in a song. Personally, I go for the musicianship above and beyond anything else, but I get surprised every now and then when I read the lyrics and understand the song in a different light. For instance, this song's about drug addiction but I was more focused on the intermingling of the guitars as they rode the rhythm.....

I listen to all types of music so I don't front on anything.

But it takes more *talent* for someone with no musical training like Soulja Boy to make a good tune than it does a fully trained musician.

I'm less impressed by this old rock stuff than I am any number of soul or funk bands.

And that's because white people have no "soul" in their music and lack rhythm and funk.

I guess I just don't understand the relevance .
