How old are you @MrMime? I see where you're coming from if you're talking about this younger generation, but coming of age here in the 90's was a whole different story, Berkeley included. I don't even think these younger cats from out here are even really trying to portray that extra grimey image anyways, if anything they're embracing the party culture. You can't discount that there still aren't hoods out here that they're coming from at the same time either though. There are still a couple pretty bad pockets of poverty sprinkled throughout the bay, a few spots in Richmond come to immediate mind. It might not even be as bad as some places that you're comparing it to, but being there even during the daytime, I still have my senses on high alert.

I agree with you. There's definitely real folk in Cali, I'll never say anything goofy like that. All ones thats really out there living it from anywhere I feel for them. But if we talking about Cali in general (Northern or Southern), I have to speak in general terms. I just don't agree with certain things people say about Cali. I don't understand how a black male can feel so strongly towards it. Doesn't add up to me. Not saying you have to feel how I feel, it just doesn't add up.

Even if what you're saying is true, which it isnt why would that be a big deal? If you had to live in the hood the game plan is always getting out. That doesn't make you less real or black. The only only people who think that, are nikkas who have never been through shyt but for some reason glorify that lifestyle.
