That shyt means nothing now..
Krs - One credibility is :scust:
Since he was covering up for a child rapist. Aint he hiding.out overseas.?
Nelly stinks. I couldn't believe it at the time ..the battle is not really that epic.. Its like cannibus and ll.. Like cannibus went at.him but L.L had to remind people who is.. And took that shyt:hhh:
Krs - one might be done

What Nelly said was some real shyt. KRS was campaigning hard as fukk to position himself as some type of Supreme Court for hiphop. Dude came in the game 10 years after it started yet he and solely he was supposed to decide what was real hiphop? :camby:

And he was also correct in it only beiny flabby and sick hasbeens saying that shyt. Nowadays they all respect the youth and recognize that they might not understand it. They respect that they do it differently and that when they came up they too did it differently from the generation before them.
But then you have these angry "I determine genres" type of cats. Even in other genres we have people like Oasis, who are like KRS.

KRS and the old heads of yesterday were straight haters, elitists and not humble at all.

The OP keeps saying "East Coast" when he means NYC.
At the end of the day, NYC rocks with NYC. They not out here putting on for anyone else. Nor will they ever. They wallow in their provincialism.
Why should anyone from Newark or Philly "defend" an NYC artist? NYC damn sure isn't in the business of defending anyone else.

KRS-ONE started this stupid beef and lost.

He needed to be humbled and in a way I'm glad it happened. Older heads need to accept that hip hop is always adjusting to the times. Dont shyt on Nelly because he found a huge audience after Country Grammar (which is a great track btw)

The rise of The South had nothing to do with dumbing down Hip Hop culture.
Just leave it be man. Just a bunch of bitter up north nikkas in here complaining and blaming the South when we had absolutely nothing to do with this beef. And acting like Mims and shyt didn't exist during this timeframe

KRS is one of the top 5 MC's of all time.

With that said,

Even though I side with KRS from a culture standpoint, I'm also objective enough to say that KRS got caught sleeping.

He thought his reputation was enough to get him by and threw out lightweight punches.

Nelly's disses weren't all that potent but he won off the strength of being the most popular rapper at the moment.

KRS One was not relevant anymore(sorry) and Nelly was one of the hottest artists in the country at the time. Only one way for that to go.
It happened again last year.
Joe budden lyrically beat the hell out of Drake. No one cared.
Rise of the south was done by MTV2 IMO.
They literally force fed the nation videos of mike jones, lil jon, david banner, paul wall, etc 24 hours a day. Eventually the market shifted.

Get Low was the one that changed everything. H Town movement happened later on
