Derrick Henry-effect.

Plus I don't think they wanted to give breh ANOTHER MVP.

Tom Brady has 3
Jim Brown has 3
Johnny Unitas has 3
Patrick Mahomes has 2
Kurt Warner has 2
Joe Montana has 2
Steve Young has 2

Lamar is the ONLY player in NFL history with multiple MVP's but no championships/SB's.

Top 5 passer rating and with almost 900 yards of rushing.

Defense being in shambles the early part of the year cost him.

Curious how it is if Kyle Hamilton doesn't drop the game ending int vs the Browns.
Given that the entire argument being made for Allen was “it’s his turn he deserves it after being screwed for years”, that essentially cost Lamar the MVP. That and his kicker losing 2-4 games for them this year. If Tucker does his job in just 2 of the 4 losses against the raiders, browns, eagles, and Steelers, then the ravens get the 2 seed over Buffalo and the win/loss record argument goes out the window. Instead he left 22 points on the board in those 4 games that the ravens lost by 22 points with at least 1 missed kick in each of those games while all of them came down to the final drive.

This is the most appropriate take. People forget these awards are more narrative as opposed to true meritocracy.

For me I had it as a toss up, Lamar had the better season but he had the better team but u had a little fatigue drop in especially seeing that he isn’t dominant in playoffs, Allen did shine in big games plus he seem to “carried” his team more.

I know it was after the voting but for me (for the voting to sit right with me) the tie breaker was the head to head matchup in the playoffs. Allen did more for his team to win than Lamar..Lamar didn’t look like an MVP candidate on that field. So I’m okay with Allen winning especially since Lamar didn’t do shyt in playoffs again. :francis:

Which is funny considering narrative helped Jackson win MVP last year, which is was considered weak by an MVP standard.

We can’t and won’t pretend like that wasn’t taking place last year including on this very site.

The historic precedent is somewhat ironic and fitting.

Lamar didn't have an MVP season last year but played QB on the most successful regular season team. In August 2024 most had Buffalo backsliding due to lack of offensive talent/names, myself included. I said a while ago that overall team strength should be considered and it was.

So 2 years in a row of a guy who "didn't deserve" MVP getting MVP. I'm surprised but not mad.
only people who had Buffalo taking a step back were idiots who dont actually watch football

they didnt actually lose anybody worth a damn besides Diggs and they had one of the easiest schedules and play in a weak division

the narrative that the Bills are a weak team is bullshyt

they have a top 10 defense and a top 5 offensive line

they have depth at every skill position

the only real weakness on their entire team is CB

If it takes a kick or late play to win a game against sorry ass teams, you didn't play well enuff to win anyway

that is just flat out ridiculous logic
because if we was going by what you said Kansas City and the all-time great Patrick Mahomes wouldn’t have even made the playoffs this season

Now look at Lamar stats last season compared to MVP runner up Dak :sas2:

Like the homie : C Brew … said on First Things First - all last season your team only beat a bunch of

Bolded is incorrect bills have given up tied for 4th most 3rd down conversions in the nfl while being just as bad at 2nd downs . Their saving grace is that they hunt for turnovers.

The ravens were 1-6 this year when Lamar had a passer rating below 115. For some context to that, 1999 Kurt Warner had a 109 passer rating. 2007 Tom Brady had a 117 passer rating. That’s the level Lamar had to play at to keep the ravens afloat this season. He did that with the worst kicking unit in the league, the 29th average starting field position, a defense that forced I think 15 turnovers all year, a defense that was 26th or worse in every meaningful category except run defense through the first 10 games of the year, with his kicker directly costing them 3-4 games, with his receivers dropping passes at a higher rate than all but 3-4 other quarterbacks, one of the worst pass protecting lines in football, and one of the most penalty prone teams in the league with 3 of his linemen being among the top 10 most flagged players in the league. Not only that, but people in here keep posting the stats too. Lamar was way more productive in every statistical category while having a way harder schedule too.

This mvp is gonna age crazy bad in the next few years. shyt is gonna look worse than the 2002 AL MVP where Soriano, Giambi, and A-Rod missed out to Miguel Tejada.
Yall talking like Josh is Kirk Cousins smh

It's not that simple. You need a simulator to swap players around...QB in this case and factor in coaching game plan changes.

Regular season: Josh Allen on Ravens maintains 12wins. We will never know, but that's damn near a sure bet if healthy.

If you say Josh Can't match the regular season records of Lamar, Jaden Daniels or Burrow then he wouldn't deserve a MVP. But he's swappable and it would be no fall off.
