It probably has a lot to do with Lamar's Postseason woes; even tho the award is based on the regular season, you can't read what's on the back of the voter's minds. They probably didn't wanna reward Lamar with another MVP because of expectations not being met, although it's not entirely his fault for his team's struggles.

Despite being eliminated, Josh's team ended the season on a better term and his Postseason is just slightly better than Lamar's.

Lamar had to be perfect this season for the ravens to win games. Anything short of 2011 Aaron Rodgers or 2004 Peyton Manning and they were dead in the water. At this point you’re blaming Lamar for his teammates not stepping up in big moments. In fact the defense came 1 play away from wasting another unreal game he had at home vs Cincinnati.

funny how those early games matter for Lamar even though they werent his fault but Allen playing like ass against the Ravens and getting blew out and his 9-30 game against the Texans get swept under the rug

one guy had the 3rd highest QB rating off all time and became the 1st player to lead the league in passing & rushing yards per attempt

the other had 10 wins against teams with a losing record and his signature moment was having 6 TDs in a loss

Allen was 20th in the league in passing yards per game this year. He was 5th in total touchdowns. If his rushing yards counted but no other qb’s rushing yards counted, he’d have been 6th in total yards by a qb this year. 16% of his total touchdowns this year were qb sneaks. Nothing about his season suggested mvp got even a moment to me at any point this year.
