I know brehs reading this likebut hear me out, brehs.
Like what makes him so wack or wacker compared to these clowns rapping today?
Oh he is corny, no street cred, danced?
The biggest rapper in the world is a Canadian Jew that grew up in a middle class, suburban Toronto neighborhood. Who is by the way the corniest nikka ALIVE.
His mom wasn’t hiding the tuna sandwich from him. She was hiding the world from the tuna sandwich.
Hope none of you 6 Fags are offended by any of this.![]()
You nikkas is really cracked out I’ll take any of these trash ass dudes over vanilla cacThe funny thing is that Ice Ice baby was a solid song and most of us didn't have in issue with it in 91. Where it became a problem was 3 things.
-Despite what you think, Rob Van Winkle came from a working class household. He started out as a B-Boy and came out of the battle rap scene. That was a way more grounded and interesting story than the one the record label tried to feed the public. I think him not signing to Def Jam was a major mistake because while he may not have had the commercial success he gained. Russell would have probably taken him a lot more seriously as an artist, it wasn't like he sucked as a rapper and he would have blown off the strength of being white and good looking (nh). Unlike the awkward jewish Beastie Boys or 3rd Bass.
-After being an overnight success he started huffing his own fumes to the point where he started to believe his own hype there pretty much drawing the ire of a hip-hop community that was still pretty young and that a) was big on realness and authenticity and the perception of such and b) Was in the middle of a very Pro Black awakening spearheaded by Public Enemy, X-Clan, Native Tongues etc.
-It was clear he had a ghostwriter because he could never replicate what he did on To the Extreme.
But even with all that I would take him over 75% of the hip-hop out right now.
he was from a hood in miami but really from a nice neighborhood in Dallas. dude was pureA key piece of info missing from this thread (@DANJ! touched on it briefly) is Vanilla Ice lied about his back ground and got busted. By Luke from 2 Live Crew, if I remember correctly. Because he claimed to be from the hood in Miami when he was actually from Texas.
After that it was a wrap. Then on top of that his album was trash.
Prior to that people liked him about as much as any "dance/rap" artist back then, like Kid N Play, Heavy D, Hammer, etc. Which was well liked but nobody was putting those guys alongside the "real" rappers.
Fred.

I aint a fan of Super Simp Blackface Aubrey either but Vanilla Ice still one of the worst mainstream labels tried to push on the masses of all time. Dudes a walkin punchlineStill better than Drake.
I was in a club once in college and the dj played Ice Ice Baby..the whole club began rapping along. Everyone knows the lyrics even many years later..
No Drake song can be recited by the masses. Thats why Drake is garbage..
The label put out a press bio that made a claim that he was once in a gang, was stabbed, was a Motocross champion, and went to school with Luke.
He himself said the Luke shyt was untrue because Luke is 10 years older than him, but he did attend the same school (which I believe also turned out to be untrue)... but he didn't say this until he was Arsenio.
Still better than Drake.
