i'm glad i'm not the only person here who thinks this streamer shyt is horrible, and the biggest streamers are extremely flawed people, who are unbelievably reckless with their platforms

Just in the last month I heard about:
-the cac who shocks his dog
-a french streamer that was tortured before dying
-women streamers who always seem to have "nip slips" and wardrobe malfunctions
-an asian streamer was killed by a stalker
-a streamer died from marathoning a video game without eating/drinking

I'm sure there's more, but thats all i can think of right now.

everyday you go on, you see some streamer doing some dumb bullshyt, or performing some dumbass stunt for attention. And kids (and a lot of adults) will sit there watching it. It's disgusting, but it's the world we live in, god help us

When i was a senior in HS, each student had to think of their own topic and write 9-11 pages and create a product representing your topic. My topic was the negative effects TV has on young children. The modern-day topic would be the negative effects streamer culture has on young children (and adults)

I personally think it's far more dangerous than the basic cable TV shows 90s/early 2000s kids had growing up. If i was a parent, i'd have that content banned in my home. Same deal with "Rogansphere" podcasters who will casually invite nazis on the podcast. It's all dangerous. I think podcasting is dangerous as well, but that's another story

Facts. brain rot is a real thing and they keep acting like the dumb tv options we had back in the day can compare to this. Jackass was a half hour program, once a week. These people are streaming nonsense for 40-60 hours and its a ever mounting race to the bottom. the most degenerate and deranged your content can get the more people tune in.

People running up on you in public is not fine, they should have rendered dude unconscious so the next crazy who thinks of trying that knows thats the result.

I thought like that myself but after Covid hit and i started to work from home, i slowly got into watching streams while working. Sometimes just having them as background noise was enough but also watching them play games i had some interest in but not wanting to play myself was cool. Even if i do play the game it is interesting to see how other people play (and fail) at the same game.

Between that and other streams that deal with sports i find it is pretty cool to watch as a side activity, not as something I do only. If you look for stuff you are interested in and not just watch the big streamers, it is alright.
