Inflation: A quick rent story

Some of yall are impressed by cheap ass rent but if ain't 1. Relatively safe 2. Free of pests (roaches, rats, Bedbugs etc.) 3. Not in a shyt location 4. got a washing machine and dryer
I'd rather pay closer to market rate

My rent is cheap, and the rent in these old buildings owned by the leasing company are still affordable. As for a relatively safe location, I'm not in the best of areas, but there's a bunch of market rate spots with the bells and whistles all in very close distance. These developers are putting those nice buildings up everywhere. That's the problem. The rent in a bad area are up there with the rents in a affluent area where you don't have to worry about anything.

My rent went up $380 just recently. I've been at the same place and started off at 775 and it has gone to 1250 all in two years.

I've looked into buying and my mortgage payments would be right under $1500. I'm trying to figure out what's next.

Goes up 2-4 % every 2-4 years or so. When I took over in 2007 it was around 750.

Where do y’all live where rent is 7 anything? I live in Charlotte and my rent was 7 something in 2011 maybe lol. And shyt, I’m from a small town in SC and they put up new apartments that start at 1100. 1 BR
