College sports is a big-money business, with football and basketball programs generating millions of dollars in revenue every year. While coaches and athletic directors in Division I programs routinely score seven-figure contracts, student-athletes are currently prohibited from sharing in the profits. Is it time to rewrite the rules in college sports and allow athletes their fair share of the profits? Or would providing monetary incentives -- above and beyond existing scholarships and career supports -- spoil the sport?

They need to be paid, like the original Olympians the idea was stolen.
That or rename them Indentured Servants instead of student athletes.

at least watch the debate. theres great points on all sides, and low-key, I'm finding myself against paying them.

I do think they should loosen up on letting athletes work jobs

If TAs are paid, so should basketball and football athletes. The other sports not so much unless school is a baseball/hockey/soccer farm

You should be compensated IF you generate revenue. That's the key word. The revenue generating athletes subsidize the entire athletic department. If you don't contribute to the bottom line, you don't eat; that's how it works in business.

In terms of a fund built up for them, even as little as $100 a game for all four years that they can receive upon graduation, yes.

Paid while playing, I'd say it would be like having a job in college, which would help with expenses.

With the amount of work they put in; practice, games, academics, they definitely need compensation.

I don't know what more I need to learn about the situation :mjlol: I have first hand knowledge about the fukkery.

My brother was a drafted football player, my cousin played football too.

They both had to sell weed to have any amount of money or ask family.

They should be paid at least an allowance ALONG with tuition in exchange for play.

This is why yall should WATCH THE VIDEO (even speed it up to 1.25x, 1.5x etc if you must)

They had alternatives like "if you get a deal for your likeness then the team gets a trust that you can get upon graduation" or something similar.

Theres intermediate opportunities and options.

I think they should, but I can see how this can be a gray issue. Especially when it comes down to different in pay and how the general student population will communicate with them and how the school it self will fund the football program.

So in that respect I think if they generate the revenue then yeah they should get paid but it should not come straight from the schools pocket.

Also give these nikka mentors too :stopitslime:
Don’t make no damn sense 18,19 year olds ruining thier lives because they get caught with drugs or gambling.

Didn't watch, but they should be allowed to use the brand they create through their hard work to accept money from sponsors.
