I actually think GTA IV was the better game in general. GTA V was all flash and no substance.

I think binge playing gta iv a couple weeks before v came out messed up my experience with v. I guess i burnt myself out on 3rd person sandbox games and that kind of skewed my opinion on v towards the negative. I thought the soundtrack on iv was better (especially the rap and r&b offerings) and I liked that it was a bit more "realistic". I enjoyed the online in v far more though. Spent way more time in that than the single player. Trolling those racist foreign kids never got boring.

All yall talking about "physics downgrade" clearly have no idea wtf you're talking about...

It's scripting and new animations not downgraded physics...they didn't overhaul the RAGE engine...You can make NPC's tumble around like in IV and make cars feels like boats again by editing the XML's...

The crouch is back and they even got Niko diving around in the club like he's Max Payne...

V is better than IV off the strength of Lamar alone.
4 was easily the most boring GTA I've ever picked up.
Huge step back from San Andreas and Saints Row 2 was infinitely more enjoyable.
The best part about that game was the Ballad of Gay Tony expansion/dlc.
