A good salary is subjective
I know people that think making under 200k is poverty

Remember when mcdonalds used to pay 4 dollars an hour to start and folks had the nerve to go like slave for minimum wage or sell drugs? No seriously. You notice how these policies are changing such as the raising of minimum wage and the public health crisis approach to drugs based on the demographics thats being affected? In other words, theyre saying the middle white class is struggling out here.

At least theyre getting compensated though for that slave labor. 20, not even 10 years ago. That shyt was clearly abuse. Crazy how you had people dying over that shyt too. Nobody talks about the folks who died around this time because of these shoppers stampeding over workers to death and shyt over black friday/christmas. Honestly shyt isnt worth the money. Its draining, dehumanizing and an eye opener in terms of humanity. People valuing poison over another human life to the point where they think theyre entitled to that poison. Crazy shyt.

Where can you live where $20/hr is great? I'm assuming good nightlife and good amount of women too.

Please let me know, I'm at $54k/yr.
Saying it’s great is wild lol
But true poverty is way below that
I think in Maryland the poverty line is 15k with 2 kids
So for a family coming from a 15k job it would be great

$20 / hr with overtime you can stack some dollars. No overtime? Gig app to supplement.

Where you live helps to determine this.

Definitely makes a difference.

Average American is probably only making about $18 hr but overtime evens the field as much as it can be evened.

For fast food, $20/hr is good. Economically it's only good if you living at home or with a roommate. If you living solo, $20/hr is poverty.
If you are childless and debt free $20/hr is good money. You gotta be good with money, though. Overtime is 30/hr :yeshrug: 10 hrs of overtime a week puts you ahead of most American's wages. There is a reason savings are at an all time low.

A 2 household income where 2 people make 18 is technically 36 an hour. That's the Average American household. The wages aren't high but they are pooled together.

The childless and debt free should live like kings and queens on 20 an hour. They only have to support themselves.

Not when rent is a minimum $1000 in a majority of areas. That's almost an entire check. You won't have an emergency savings, a 401k, a roth ira, or any other investments. You can't even save to buy a house on that. Now if you have a roommate, it's doable.

Fast food and retail don't offer overtime, the corporates do not want workers getting overtime. If you did manage to get overtime, you definitely can't count on it being every week and every month. Most workers probably aren't even working 40/hrs a week.

It's good money to get on your feet, that's it.

Over North, Minnesota
$2500/month.

Average rent for a decent 2 bedroom is what, $1400?

-$700 rent
-$100 utilities
-$300 food
-$300 car insurance/gas
-$50 health insurance
-$50 cellphone
-$500 gym, restaurants, entertainment

$500 leftover.

Like I said, doable with a roommate.
Why would you get a 2 bedroom when you're single?

300 food in a month is too high. Go to Aldi

500 on leisure is way too much

Not if you're living on public assistance or section 8. Plus a good stamp card can help. But without those, yeah it's gonna be rough living on your own.
