This, and they feel dropping a mixtape every other month is the move. if they save the banging mixtape songs for their actual album we might actually have quality material coming out all of the time, i know sometimes samples clearences apply to this but not all of the time.
the game would radically different if this was the case. i just dont get it. a mixtape should be the leftovers or going over other beats (can't really do that anymore tho) not your best material. i wish i managed a semi successful rap artist, we'd go places, a lot of these fukks have no idea how to maintain a career.
I think its because a few years ago that actually worked. Like Wayne in his prime. Not so much anymore.
that was back when mixtapes were mixtapes tho. now mixtapes are free albums. wasted original production and sometimes hit songs basically thrown away.
