This, and they feel dropping a mixtape every other month is the move. if they save the banging mixtape songs for their actual album we might actually have quality material coming out all of the time, i know sometimes samples clearences apply to this but not all of the time.

the game would radically different if this was the case. i just dont get it. a mixtape should be the leftovers or going over other beats (can't really do that anymore tho) not your best material. i wish i managed a semi successful rap artist, we'd go places, a lot of these fukks have no idea how to maintain a career.

I think its because a few years ago that actually worked. Like Wayne in his prime. Not so much anymore.

that was back when mixtapes were mixtapes tho. now mixtapes are free albums. wasted original production and sometimes hit songs basically thrown away.

Every few years a new generation of 'IT' rappers shows up. They rock hard for a year, drop an album, most of them dont make it to dropping a successful second album. There is a reason they specificially have a term 'sophmore slump'... add to the fake 2Chainz pretty much universally is considered to have dropped a 'ehhh' album when he had everyones attention, and its not really a surprise where he is at now...

he's not over but needs to take a break. he's over saturated himself.

i dont understand the mentality of rappers now a days trying to constantly put out music. it devalues you.
nikkaz never graduted high school... supply and demand escapes them... not chainz specifically but rappers in general

I'm not a 2chainz fan but some of you Nikkas are geting ridiculous:russ:

First off he aint the type of rapper who can go 2 to 3 years without dropping an album and people will still care. He doesn't have that type of appeal or buying fanbase. He aint Jay Z or eminem

2chainz kinda has to "over saturate" the market and the label knows that. That's why they're trying to get as much money and albums out of this 2chainz run before its over

and when niggs go away for a prolonged period the criticism is "they took too long off" "fans became unfamiliar" "didn't strike the iron while it was hot"

most of these dudes arent supertalented song writers in the first place, so while theyre "hot" theyre doing exactly what they should be doing, milking the cow and getting all the features they can so they can tour, get album budgets and get as much money out of the game as they can. this especially applies to chainz. he got the rare second chance in hiphop. he aint rebrand and work the south for 3-4 years to take a break when he got hot. he just bet on the wrong lead single, but he still eating better than he ever has. he just need a single
