All these words of encouragement are cool and everything, but really you should be making AT LEAST 70k a year, breh. And I mean that if you are single with no kids. A family man needs a 100k minimum. You don't really have anything to build wealth on at 55k. Federal taxes alone are eating up any "excess" you have. Then you have state tax in most states, and state without it usually have higher property tax. Those taxes are insults, really. In a lot of places, after rent/mortgage, all the insurances, car note(??), student loans and other debt, gas, you are really skruggling on "55k" (assuming that is the gross and not the net).

People are going to come behind me and call this trolling, but that is just complacency speaking. We are behind in this country and cannot be complacent. Did somebody leave you something, are you generationally wealthy and working purely for passion? If not, what the hell are you gonna do with 55k?

And NO. You are not a loser, but you have to do better, especially if you have the nerve to have a family eventually.
Not being able to live in excess or build mass generational wealth is not struggling.

$55K in most cities is fine I’m all about getting the bag but it’s unrealistic for every family man to be a six figure earner. He can bring in those six figures with a woman at his level.

Op knows he's not a failure he just wanted to humble brag which is kinda sad... either that or he's actually asking a bunch of Internet people for validation which makes him even more pathetic.

To be fair I think it’s a flip of the other thread where a guy was putting down the B Dubs cook that was on tik tok

50k is basic. Rent is 1.6k
50k nikkas talking gross salary

What I will say, at a certain point you have grt stability.

At this point. I'm prob going to get a forced a promotion. They forcing me to become a senior or mgmt.

I say this to say, get in right organization that can lead you onto more roles and experience.

It'd all about exposure, you just got to get in the door first

Failure based on what? Society’s standards? Someone else’s standards? If you’re doing what’s making you happy, then who gives a fukk? :manny:

Honestly, you make more money than I do at the moment OP :ehh:

what stood out to me is the premature complacency

You have ~50 years left to live
31 is prime real estate and it sounds like you do work a sleepy 71 year old man could do

Maybe try to build some other workplace skills so you can function and stay viable
If the labor market gets more competitive,, then what??
Stay sharp mentally and keep your health 100%

To introduce an imperfect college basketball analogy
You are up 40-28 with two minutes left in the first half and are already playing four corners to let the air out of the ball
Very premature
I'd try to put some more points up on the board

So yes, I'd put a little pressure on myself to step it up a notch

Also..,,
Most people are just replying to the thread title
They didn't really consider what you wrote

No not a failure that’s decent income, depending upon your field ask yourself can you make more.

also depends upon where you live, your costs and how much you save and budget

No!

Many people don't make that much money, plus you are still relatively young!!

You have plenty of time to make more money and depending what your life goals are, you will make more money. You may even double to quadruple what you are making, if you want....

You are good, at least to me...

Salute!
