Y'all nikkas is seriously defying all the odds. I don't make anywhere near 140k or 150k. I will say I'm a homeowner so to me that's successful. As long as I can go out and not have to check my account before I buy something I'm good. But I also live in an area where making 50 or 60k is good money so I'm probably not the most qualified person to speak on monetary success.

Feels like I’m on an island at times in real life but when I come is this thread I feel underpaid.

Same here, I make more than most of my friends except those that play sports but as far as regular people I got a homeboy that works for the railroad that makes well over 6 figures but he's never home to enjoy it. He always says he would take less money to not work as hard but he's kinda stuck where he is now.

A lot of these coli's "6 certers" probably work as a security guard at walmart in real life. statistically, the coli might have 3 or 4 top 5 percenter at most

Most dude on this site are not earning above $60k a year and I'm willing to bet my mortgage on that. post your payslip/bank account, bunch of :duck:

Nah breh there are def a lot more high earners, they just tend to stick in certain threads and subs. I can think of 3 other users who are making big bank off the top of my head, and if you’re in the stock and crypto threads a lot of folks are huddled in there.

Brehs gotta stop underestimating the coli. There are some great resources in the 6 figs and higher learning subs. I’ve probably netted $50K off of tips from ppl in the right threads. You just gotta sift through all the bedwench and c00n threads.

What do you do?
I work in tech but on the biz side of things. The software engineers have it made. $450K putting in 30, 35 hours a week. Low key considering a career shift because people who are way more junior than me on the tech side are making about the same w/ much less stress.

EDIT: I also don’t want to come across as too negative because the learning opportunities and responsibilities in tech are tremendous vs. older companies. You learn the language of how business is done in the 21st century and how to be nimble. It’s just that I feel like it doesn’t make sense to do this forever without either launching my own business or leaving to work on tech for a non-tech company.

Production Engineers at Facebook make a quarter mil annually on the lower end of things. It does make me want to get serious about programming more.

@Jalether is right, while there are posters that are high earners it's not the majority hence why the '6 cert' jokes abound

Nah statistically top earners are in the minority in the US (or any country for that matter) then you consider the fact that black people alongside native americans are the lowest
earning demographic in America and in addition to that, most high earners are simply too busy to have time to be posting on the coli

What part of it are you looking to get into? Not SAAS and I haven’t worked at a startup yet.

He said there were like 4 ppl lol. Maybe 4ppl with net worth higher than a mill or something. I won’t argue that 6-figs ain’t the average, but there are a decent amount of ppl on the site. The whole “Ducktales!” reaction to $120K+ earnings is sad IMO. If you’re middle or upper middle class, you can get there without even being that smart or creative. If you’re in the trenches that’s another story.

Case in point, I chopped it up with a young breh working retail part time at a public uni about 3 years ago. He mentioned he was interested in business so I gave him some pointers and we connected on LinkedIn where I shared some programs for black men he should look into.

I just got notification breh hit his 2 year anniversary at a firm where I know he’s now making $100K+ in his 20s. Way ahead of where I was at the age.

It’s very doable. You just can’t be complacent and have to be intentional about what you do, who you talk to, etc.
