What part of it are you looking to get into? Not SAAS and I haven’t worked at a startup yet.

He said there were like 4 ppl lol. Maybe 4ppl with net worth higher than a mill or something. I won’t argue that 6-figs ain’t the average, but there are a decent amount of ppl on the site. The whole “Ducktales!” reaction to $120K+ earnings is sad IMO. If you’re middle or upper middle class, you can get there without even being that smart or creative. If you’re in the trenches that’s another story.

Case in point, I chopped it up with a young breh working retail part time at a public uni about 3 years ago. He mentioned he was interested in business so I gave him some pointers and we connected on LinkedIn where I shared some programs for black men he should look into.

I just got notification breh hit his 2 year anniversary at a firm where I know he’s now making $100K+ in his 20s. Way ahead of where I was at the age.

It’s very doable. You just can’t be complacent and have to be intentional about what you do, who you talk to, etc.

Just some good books resources on startups
-Customer Development
-Sales
-Marketing etc.

The problem is a lot of black people don't have strong professional networks so we don't know that the opportunities that you mentioned exist.

Y'all nikkas is seriously defying all the odds. I don't make anywhere near 140k or 150k. I will say I'm a homeowner so to me that's successful. As long as I can go out and not have to check my account before I buy something I'm good. But I also live in an area where making 50 or 60k is good money so I'm probably not the most qualified person to speak on monetary success.
Truthfully what I've learned. Making good money is cool and all but it doesn't mean shyt if your debt to income ratio is high. The lower your debt to income ratio is the better you will live. You already ahead of the game as a homeowner. You are knee deep in the game once you don't have a mortgage (assuming if you have one).

A lot of these coli's "6 certers" probably work as a security guard at walmart in real life. statistically, the coli might have 3 or 4 top 5 percenter at most

Most dude on this site are not earning above $60k a year and I'm willing to bet my mortgage on that. post your payslip/bank account, bunch of :duck:

Like I said before, someone has to make it.

I'll break it down the best way I know how for my personal income...

I just turned 35. I didn't earn a 6 figure salary until I was about 31. I worked in Big Law, doing paralegal work. I've worked at the same firm from like age 24 to present day. With OT I was hitting about 110gs salary for a couple years straight. at 33, I created a house flipping & property development business with some family members. So I've been working remote during COVID for my firm, getting that money, and I've also added about 100-200k a year to my take with real estate.

That's where my 200-250k a year is coming from. I plan to exit the 9-5 shyt very soon.

gotta let go of worrying about being black all the time.

if you stay with the crowd youll end up like the crowd.

what im talking about is being comfortable not being around black people.

In this day and age it's pretty much common knowledge that about 3 years of experience is worth $300k-$500k+ in software engineering.

Read the replies:

I'd actually say $185k is successful, but underpaid. Need to keep driving up the price.

Some of these companies like Apple pull in $150 billion in pure profit a year, they can pay their software engineers $1mil/year each, their top engineers NBA-level salaries and still be completely fine.

I'm personally grinding Leetcode again to get a new job that pays much more than what I'm making at my current place.

Exactly...

nikkas would mess up an opportunity to get money because of someone's political affiliation, but then go to a sports game and support a team owned by the someone who is affiliated with the same politics they hate..😆

You gonna have to bite bullets if you want to move up
