32 and $250K from my day job. Plus an extra $30K this year off day trading while working remotely. Honestly not happy with how I spend my time though so not going to be on some BS like I’ve got it all figured out. Everyone above me in management seems to live a miserable life I want no parts.

What do you do?

Embedded flight software engineer for a small government contractor (computer engineering degree). Talking 20 people. I did work for some larger aerospace companies but the small government contractors are willing to pay a whole lot more. I also charge on 2 different contacts which is an agreement the company owner and I came to to allow me to get this salary. I work 50-55 hours a week because of this as well but I work from home so it's whatever. 3-4 of those hours are dedicated to the coli :troll:

So yeah, I'm a worker, not a boss.

If you are in the DC area, BUILD YOUR BLACK NETWORK. I'm talking anyone with a black face. My company owner is a Haitian breh and I don't think I could swing this if this weren't the case.

The government contracting officer for my current project is also black (Morgan state physics grad) and I'm pretty tight with him. Same age as me so if I'm still around when my Haitian boss retires I'll either stay with the company if his son takes over or start my own company and get contracts with the Morgan state breh.

Can you do that without a computer science degree.

A lot of these coli's "6 certers" probably work as a security guard at walmart in real life. statistically, the coli might have 3 or 4 top 5 percenter at most

Most dude on this site are not earning above $60k a year and I'm willing to bet my mortgage on that. post your payslip/bank account, bunch of :duck:

DC area is full of Black professionals. It's amazing to see.

I'd rather be in Cali but the golden handcuffs

I deal with embedded flight software on satellites so we're dealing with FPGAs/integrated circuits, device drivers, and we have to be cognizant of the different subsystems (pointing and control, power subsystems, safing subsystems, etc...) And astrodynamics in general.

Maybe you can teach yourself all of that but I know I couldn't :hubie:

You could probably self teach yourself in cloud DevOps and I know people are eating really well over there

I got golden handcuffs too man. I feel ya. The goal is to be financially independent so I can support my family.

I enjoy my role enough now to keep at it. I think my gf and I can continue things to build our net worth which is good
