A country is an abstract concept, I don't think a country can be "evil", only people can. For the country itself to be evil that would mean everybody in the country was evil and that's a stretch.

That said, obviously the American government has done plenty of unethical things over the years, but we shouldn't act like other governments haven't.

We as a country used to be moral and now it seems ethics are the main focus. The problem between morals and ethics is a big deal. It is best described as the ethical person knows not to cheat on their spouse while the moral person doesn't cheat.

Without a firm moral compass that people can attend to subjective moral reasoning means the difference between mother Theresa and Stalin is a matter of personal opinion.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. The government may have done bad things in the past, but let's not act like they haven't done good. Ask the people of the Philippians if America was the devil, when the Navy was doing disaster relief after Typhoon Haiyan.

I'm assuming that "America" is being defined as a geo-political entity in this context. Whatever the definition, it is a matter of perspective. In my opinion, America is no more evil than any other world power. After all, all empires are built on the graves of the conquered.

Yes it is... its ruled by a government which churns out barely educated adults who do nothing other than think in generalisations, then uses the media to convince some of the most unfortunate people in the world that they have it better than everyone because of.. you know.. tall buildings and false meat patties.. It then tells its people why everyone else is evil and why they should be suv driving money burning robots like its own people and everyone cheers "USA, USA!"
