u r an idiot
a single is to market the project/artist to a wider audience.
because the audience is so wide the song must be easily digestible for everyone. This is why fans tend to be against hits because they stip away a lot of artists core in some cases.
Labels strive for hits because they open up a whole new avenue of promotion.
Its typically easier to further push an artist when their song is playing every hour on the hour.
fukkk what you talking about.

Where The Cash At with Wayne/Remy Ma
Had everyone looking for a Currensy album. No album came but he dropped mixtapes and the fans ate it up.

Bruh people listen to projects, add the best songs to a playlist and keep it movingI disagree.
People are always checking for new mixtapes, and not just from their "favorite" artist. What will get them to listen to it is whether it's quality throughout, not just a few hits and a jumble of filler.
Hits keep pop artists relevant.
Mixtape and album cuts are what keep rappers relevant.
It's nonsensical just for the fact that having a hit single is an entirely separate accomplishment and revenue stream completely. ..people conflating hit records purely with industry evildoing or the lack thereof as some kind of underdog virtue is some stupid ass nerd rap smark naive bullshyt
All things being equal, having a hit > not having a hit....In pretty much every regard

Hits are what make the money. Shurmda was getting 15k to 20k to perform his 1 hit with no project out
ThisI think it is something to brag about.
Hits are overrated. The fans want an album or a mixtape full of good songs, not just a couple big tracks. Also, hits are products of many factors other than just the quality of the music; current mainstream appeal being one of them. Whereas being successful without a hit suggests consistency, which again, fans like and appreciate.
Curren$y is a good example of my point.
