So a group that changes members is not the same band no more? And you are in the Destiny's Child thread saying this?

Jacksons ans J5 were literally marketed as different groups.

Is LSG the same as New edition because it features Johnny Gill?

Destiny Child never changed the lead singer and always kept the same branding thus its the same group. Now if Beyonce left and Aaliyah became the lead singer and they kept the same name then youd have to judge them by the era. Similar to the temptations.

Because the Jackson 5 were on Motown and left them to go to Epic but Motown owned the name. It's the same group they just replaced Jermaine with Randy. They were marketing different because they were dealing with a new label and new marketing team.

Mike wasnt in the jacksons and was the lead singer/face of the j5. Him leaving alone makes it a different group. And if Im not mistaken (while probably a legal technicality) the songs Mike did under the Jackson branding he is listed as being featured opposed to a member. IMO that warrents enough to look at them as two different entities being that they technically were (legally).

Destinys child was always the same technical entity and Beyonce always being that only solidified it.

Would you use that same logic for MJ and the Jackson 5? Are they top 5 all time because of MJ in your eyes?
No because the rest of J5 were much more talented than the rest of DC and they have more classic records and albums than DC. Michael was the lead singer, but he wasn't carrying the group. Kelly and Michelle were glorified background singers.
