Straight out the fukkin' dungeons of rap
Hell yea it's a classic

Beats weren't the best but they fit Em's style.

Em basically murdered every single verse, sometimes literally.

No real weak songs, the only misstep was the Ken Kaniff skit

And i don't believe in references "dating" the album.

There's millions of references to Skytel pagers and coogi sweaters and gold fronts and lines that mention Reagan/Bush (both of them)/Pataki/Guliani/Clinton in power that also "date" classic albums. Doeesn't mean they aren't classic

It has as much of a claim to classic status as any mainstream release that's dropped since... Sales, impact, acclaim etc

No. Decent album but being an adult and hearing songs about killing his wife, taking drugs, dismembering people's bodies, and raping women shows how the album doesn't age well. The shock value doesn't last.

Not with all that Gay shyt:scust:

...but his iconic songs are on it: The Way I Am, Stan, bytch Please, and Real Slim Shady:ehh:

Pigeon-holed into some pop-py sensation
That got me rotation at rock'n'roll stations
And I just do not got the patience (got the patience)...
To deal with these cocky Caucasians

...Em went HAM on his fellow CaCsucKKKas:mjlol:

impact makes it classic yes but

the album isnt very good musically anymore..just listen to some of beats and rhymes on that shiit.:scust:

my point is this: if someone like cac miller dropped a similar album would it still be loved?

I've seen people give good ratitings to Millers last album and talk about his improvement. That frankenberry looking muthafukka couldn't go in a booth and create a record like "criminal" if his life depended on it, so yes.

unbiasing myself eminems best work is Infinite and Slim Shady LP. the MMLP only sold so much because of the pop songs on it and him going at britney spears and limp bizit. musically it doesn't compare to his first 2 efforts, even if one was low budget and had no Dr. Dre involvement.

No. Half of this album is amazing, the other half is not good at all. The peaks are great but classic albums have to be consistent.

Here's how I'd rank his albums:

SSLP
The Eminem Show
MMLP
Recovery
Relapse
MMLP2
Encore

infinite is classic and timeless, it's about real life struggle.

MMLP is entertaining but doesn't have much soul, not a classic to me.
