yeah you need endurance

run the play, get back to the huddle, get back lined up, then run a new one, repeat

^that cycle will repeat multiple times in minutes, and them huddles never last long enough :wtf: can be just as bad on D, sometimes worse
its worse on the D.
since offensive players know what play will be ran, they can estimate and ration their physical effort on some plays.

as defenses are purely reactive, no way for them to do so

for example, a WR running a purely decoy go route to free up space on his side of the field, can afford to not run top speed or to have some sloppy techniques. barring some unexpected shyt, the ball is not going to him.
the corner guarding him has no such knowledge or advantage. he has to run full speed or he runs a risk of giving up a long TD. the only way he knows the ball is not going to his guy is if he has a high iq, and can read the WR/QB, which is extremely hard to do

part of why jerry rice was so great he ran all of his routes with about same speed and precision at any point in the game, and that caused defensive backs a LOT of problems
