Men's Rights ActivistsWhat’s MRA?
Well he isn't off base because it doesn't really serve us as Black people, but he is blaming a structure by men and saying YG couldn't process being a victim of sexual assault because it's manly to have sex with an older woman rather than blaming the perpetuator i.e the older woman in the song. I mean I get that patriarchy is complicit here somewhat but its also misdirection IMO.Why wouldn't patriarchy be the problem?
Yes - this is what I was trying to explain above. We have high rates of sexual violence against us dating back to slavery when our genitals were removed/mutilated. It is far more than 'patriarchy' and the faults of it but rather an over arching anti-black misandry and racism we as Black Men face in society, especially straight Black men. This was almost a decent video, but then he blamed black boys getting molested by grown women on black men.
But it's honestly expected considering breh is one of those BIPOC intersectionality "straight black men are the white people of the black community" type dudes.
Now this is one of the rare times where its a bit of both. Im not a fan of women getting to pick and choose when they get to have agency but lets be real here. Like south park showed, we do condone it on a "put ourselves in their shoes" type of way. This was almost a decent video, but then he blamed black boys getting molested by grown women on black men.

But he's right. Boys being groomed by older women not being taken seriously is usually done other men, typically older men. There's been more than enough male celebrities just as examples that force sexual situations on their children or boys they're supposed to be mentoring to "make them men". I remember growing up where men were shaming boys talking about how lucky they should be. Women aren't pushing that.Well he isn't off base because it doesn't really serve us as Black people, but he is blaming a structure by men and saying YG couldn't process being a victim of sexual assault because it's manly to have sex with an older woman rather than blaming the perpetuator i.e the older woman in the song. You're not wrong in that. I'm just thinking in retrospect though where these men are in our community since we also have dealt with single parent household lead by women. Some of my learned behaviors about gender roles I learned by women growing up, not men. Even damaging things like not crying or what a "sissy" is. Yes it's gendered ideals perhaps pushed by patriarchy but these were women pushing this to me as a young boy. It's not far fetched to surmised that some of these older women thought they were helping these young boys into "manhood" by having sex with them. But he's right. I'm not saying men are completely blameless but he made an entire video on the topic blaming black men without even mentioning the mindset and thought process of the women who perpetuate these crimes. Now this is one of the rare times where its a bit of both. Now what we dont think about is that most of the time its not gonna be Ms parker or the hot teacher we all think about, its gonna be the ugly friend of mommas who make slick comments about how youve grown or the older female relatives or neighbors who are desperate cause they dont get attention from dudes their own age(my experience)
This is an issue I take with him in the video, the blaming. Young black boys are not seen as children, but as men especially in a white supremacist society. Are you telling me a 9 - 10 year old boy has the mental faculties to think about complex ideas such as gender norms, patriarchy?! I wasn't thinking about sex until I was 12 - 13 and even then it was very rudimentary. YG may have thought it was "cool" to get taken advantage of by the woman but he was still innocent and a CHILD at that time which I sort of take issue with FD trying to victim blame here under the guise of 'patriarchy'. I know he's white liberal adjacent.I'm not saying men are completely blameless but he made an entire video on the topic blaming black men without even mentioning the mindset and thought process of the women who perpetuate these crimes.
And this is the main problem with breh videos, he takes complex issues and simplifies them into trendy buzzwords.
