OP woke up alive and well this morning and Hopped on his smart phone just to say God never did anything for anyone.

I hear you op but if I allowed my son to painfully hang on a cross for hours and die for sinful people, I would want people to be thankful constantly as well. This is what our loving God did for us by allowing Jesus to die for our sins.

:blessed:

As a Christian, I believe Jesus painfully died and was resurrected so that we might gain an eternal life free of pain and grief if we believe in Him. (Romans 10:9-10)

I'll take - and have taken - a lot of suffering in this short earthly life in order to live an eternal life in heaven where there will be no more pain, suffering and grief. And I don't mind thanking and praising God all the time because He deserves it.

I respect other people with differing religious beliefs and opinions, I'm just stating what I personally believe.

Just look around thecoli, the men here want praise and no criticism for doing a lot less:mjlol:. We are made in his image.
But once you understand you are god and so is everything around you,its really not as selfish as you put it.
How is telling you to love yourself and everything else selfish?

Question though, why exactly is it that Jesus had to die in order for god to forgive our sins? :jbhmm:

I mean if god wants to forgive someone's sins, can't he just forgive them without having to torture and kill someone else? That part seems kind of unnecessary and violent.

Good question. Shedding of blood was required for atonement of sins. And I'm glad because there's a big difference between just saying you love and forgive someone versus the DOING of it by not only saying I love you and will forgive you but then adding to it "here is how far I will go to prove it...I will painfully die and sacrifice my own life to show you how much love and forgiveness I have for you."

That's extraordinary love that was willing to go to such an extreme for us that no other deity or god or prophet ever has or ever will do for us.

John 3:16 summarizes this concept well of not only saying but DEMONSTRATING love...

"God so loved the world that he GAVE his only begotton Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."
