They did themselves a disservice by callously using polarising images like they did with ole Adolf, that shyt is not cute and as far as shock value,I fail to see how you can hipster up a polebearer of Nazi ideology and kill about 100 nikkas every album, without any serious thought process into what picture you're painting.I fukk with their music and Gunn obviously has a smart business mind but I think his core audience would have been fine without a mass murdering Nazi as a pin up for his album covers.Dude created a powerhouse out of nothing,I hope his indulging in this type of energy doesn't come back to bite him

I'm from down south and fukk that flag, period. I was actually more upset with Westside Gunn for rocking that flag on one of his covers than I was at any of the Hitler covers. I dunno. The Hitler imagery is so clearly about shock value and not to be taken seriously. And Hitler hated almost everyone. The rebel flag is way more insidious to me, and it's more directly representative of probably the ugliest aspect of American history. If I'd seen him continue to wear it then I really don't think I would've kept listening.

fukk that flag. The irony is that so many people in the south claim to it's a part of American history, but it's not at all. It's the flag of an enemy insurgency that was going against America. It's one of the biggest anti-American symbols there is.

BTW I *kind of* feel bad for Conway and Benny for getting wrapped up in all this. The most try-hard shyt I've seen Conway do is put Osama Bin Laden on an album cover. Benny hasn't done that much shock value shyt. Westside Gunn is definitely the main one wilding, and if he gets bigger I'm curious if it'll bite him in the ass.

Yea there’s a reason why people are destroying the statues that represent it. It should be erased from history.

I agree 100%. A famous one got toppled not even 10 mins from me back in 2018.

Yea they just destroyed some Christopher Columbus statue recently. These record labels do push all this imagery as well so I’m sure people will speak up about it. I think Westside should end it cause if social media catches onto it it would be bad for business.

OP is ahead of the trend. If they ever break into the mainstream this shyt is going to burn them so bad
The only way they avoid the burn is if they go full pro black hip hop. You know, that's kinda what I think Tyler, The Creator did. Old OF shyt was super edgy and homophobic and with this cancel culture I think he knew he was gonna be fukked so, to control the situation ; he played into the "Tyler is gay" thing, all the Jaden Smith rumors, the homosexual lyrics (kissing white boys since I was 14 or w/e he said). He was already seen as immature so it was easy for him to play it down the middle and keep the fans unsure of if he was serious or not.
