You need to shop at higher end liquor stores that get it fresh. Check the date on it. Also, I understand if you go to the Netherlands and drink it
But any beer tastes like that when it’s old. Also it has to be ice cold.

I've had a few bottles, but for the most part, it tastes the same on tap.

I have a couple in the fridge right now 
The tap / draft beer isn’t guaranteed to be fresh either. Light, dirty lines, exposure to air etc. can all make it go bad at the tap. Beer is a lot like milk in that if you drink old beer it will not go down well. Check the date. A beer should not be more than a year old. Ideally three months or less.
