Hit and Nas have made great music together, but let's not get carried away. A lot of Hit's production still sounds like some generic 2k soundtrack music. He rehashes beats a lot too (EPMD by Nas and Stupid by Game)

Premo is still above Hit in terms of the best producers (chemistry wise) Nas has worked with.

Its an unfair comparison tbh
Not just cause its big shoes to fill but Michael and Nas are at different parts of their career when they linked up with Quincy/Hit

And honestly other than Dr Dre I dont know if any producer can be a Quincy to any rapper, theres just a lot going on with that direct of a comparison to just be a producer its to develop the artist.

I think an accurate comparison for Nas and Hit Boy are when an older legendary Rock muscian goes on a run great critcally acclaimed albums and its usually helmed by some younger A&R/Producer. Like whoever did Springsteen's albums the past 20 years that have gotten acclaim and grammys or like when Rick Ruben starts working wth legends. He actually did Johnny Cash last album before he died and many considered it his best work and it was in 2002. It was also part of a series like Kings Disease, called American (Released a series of them 1-4 before he died and then another 2 in the series after he died)

Actually now that I looked it up, the closest comparison to Nas and Hit is Johnny Cash and Rick Ruben releasing their volume of albums in the 90s and 2000s is a good one, cause they were all critically acclaimed to and respected by the purists.

I'd like to a hear a concept album of Nas executive produced by Ross:

That would be a true Quincy and Michael thing as Ross brings it out of Nas who floats over those smooth beats he'd never pick himself.

When Hit gives Nas those glossy beats, that essientally the same thing as if Ross would oversea it.
Like KD series sounds like what Ross would pick for him anyway
That was always a weird request from people.

KDIII came closest to it so it would be a great segue as Nas painting word pictures over lush orchestral beats would take it to the next level.

Hit Boys style isn't the same in that sense as its more pared down in contrast to what Ross picks - mainly for himself as this collab beats are tame compared to his usual luxury on other cuts. What I'm visioning is cinematic with Nas pushing the pen on some story time ish...

Away from the grit, a taste of success laced with wisdom and inspiration.

Before the KD series, this would've been dope. Now, not so much. The production on Nas albums since the KD series has been better than what I've heard from Ross. Rather You Than Me is the last Ross album that had great production on it.

Still, Ross teased that the idea of him being an executive producer of a Nas album had been thrown out there. He and Nas joked about calling the album Nasquiat.

Neck ties and boxing gloves.
Im not a big fan of comparing artists from significantly genres because their requirements are so different.

However since they dropped that song, whoever would get credit musicly would have to share it with Steve Stoute as the person who had the vision on how to mold Nas into a commercial star.

Goes to show what a visionary Quincy really was.
I look at Nas more as the Quincy Jones of the duo. Nas for the following reasons:

1) Nas is the seasoned veteran

2) His catalog was already stacked before meeting Hit Boy

Hit Boy did for Nas what MJ did for Quincy: give him that late career run that really propelled Quincy into another stratosphere. On paper, Quincy and MJ wasn't supposed to work and the collaboration was questioned, but the results and the execution was phenomenal.

Quincy in turn helped develop MJ into a legitimate solo superstar of the highest level. Nas has helped Hit Boy to become an elite producer because he helped four of the best projects from the GOAT.

This is a great take on the situation.

Nah. Quincy Jones propelled mj career into a new trajectory with new sounds and writing. While hit-boy and nas have great chemistry they aren't breaking any ground and nas's peak is far removed.
Nas peak is far removed ? :stopitslime: You listened to Thun, Michael and Quincy and Speechless and still say that ?

Am I the only one that thinks hit boy is a bit overrated? His beats sound like they’re missing something, I can’t explain it. I love the MOBB disease series and Magic for the cohesion if anything but the production doesn’t blow me away.
What beats have you been blown away with lately? So that I can go listen to them. Hit Boy has given you ever beat imaginable the last 2 years.
