Salaam Remi is better than Hit Boy

He actually gave Nas some of his classic records in his catalog and his production on Life is Good just sounds bigger and better than what Hit Boy has given him

Am i the only one who thinks hit-boy's beats are trash? :francis:

:francis: ...................................................................no

I wouldn't say his beat are trash, they are mostly overrated. Dude doing what DJ Hi Tek did in the late 90s and 2000s. Just because you manage to make jazzy boom bap beats next to the trap shyts, it doesn't mean you are GOAT tier, it just means that you can follow a different format that numerous beat makers/producers do on SoundCloud and Bandcamp.

Let me rephrase. I won't say trash but something is always off with his beats. That's just me and my opinion thou.

I would argue if Nas was still on a major and these albums were getting promoted like that we're thinking of some of these cuts from the KD series in the same light. shyt some might still.

One thing Salaam has over Hit is he always had that classic new york street single tucked in ready for Nas. But in terms of deep album cuts, Hit might be better

That dont mean his shyt is trash

Ive seen this be the new take with Hit from some people. Because he has a range of production styles somehow it makes him less authentic than the dudes with a certain signature sound that got classics under the belt. I wouldnt put him in any GOAT tier but in this current era hes one of them dudes who knows how to craft an album for people and the right production is still a good thing.

Even though Salaam has given Nas more impactful shyt, I don’t think he’s better than Hitboy. I don’t think Salaam could hold a whole album down like Hit.

I’ve been very critical of Hit, there’s been a lot of over rating him on this site … however

Magic/KD3 , aside from a few beats I can’t really complain.

As far as the Michael and Quincy thing … No. There’s no new ground being broken here, Nas isn’t being amplified. I doubt these albums are creating new Nas fans that weren’t here before. Nas is rapping at a 8/10,9/10 level now, at the peak of his powers he’s a 10/10,11/10 … nikka was leaving earth. Hit isn’t brining any new sounds or shyt we haven’t heard before.
