I don’t really consider Kurupt from the west. He’s from Philly. He didn’t move to LA til he was 16.

Anyway Del (the whole Hiero really), Ras Kass and Aceyalone come to mind as great west coast lyricists. Cube may be a better overall emcee or artist than all of them though.

the only time Kurupt repped Philly was when he was recording Kuruption!...and even then he had both an East Coast Disc and West Coast Disc

I feel the need to retort higher icr cube hits super lyrical zenith when needed but in 2021 he isn’t doing much lyrical gymnastics. Ice cube was the hardest and coldest rapper until pac reached his prime. He peaked at westside connection. He has the nwa album his first three solos and the westside connection album as undeniable classics and that’s due to cubes lyricism.

he also has more concept songs than any other rapper not named NaS. Now jurist, chino do, raw mass, an immortal technique don’t have the classics or stats to compare so.... yeah maybe he should be looked at as the premier westcoast lyricist until someone can out match those stats.,

Concepts, storytelling,song making ability,he's up there but Ras might be the best MC I've heard coming from the west with Blu,Aceyalone,Saafir close as personal favorites. Kurupt a great MC but limited in his approach to concepts and subject matter.
