Is it better to groom your kids to be entrepreneurs or go to college, choose a career and grind it out in the workforce.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
I choose entrepreneurship. Don’t rely on public schools. Train your kids to enjoy reading and learning. They should know how the economy works before they’re in high school.

Unless they want to be a doctor or scientist, I see no benefit of them going to college.

The public school system is a joke in this country unless you can afford private school.

You just contradicted your whole statement.

People need to stop blaming college for being idiots that wanted to go to college to hang with the bros instead picking majors with high return.

Also grooming your kids sounds retarded You can’t groom your kids into something you want them to be. This never works lol

Not everyone built to be an entrepreneur...

Just give your kid unconditional support and expose them to a wide variety of opportunities... let then decide on what fits best, then help them focus on what's needed to achieve.

Having a career/trade is less risky and stressful than entrepreneurship 95% of the time

Many successful entrepreneurs started as employees with a career in the industry they have their company in. It happens vice versa where successful entrepreneurs go on to have successful careers as an employee.

I don't see how college hinders any of that? You're not stuck doing one thing you're whole life. Your career is malleable. College isn't the problem the debt is the problem. College degree opens a lot of doors.

I see where you are coming from but the “no benefit to college” lost me. The entrepreneurship vs job is independent of college.

Plenty of successful entrepreneurs spend some time in college and met eventual business partners there.

Goodness this thread makes no sense, but coming from OP that’s common. Everyone is not built to be an entrepreneur. So forcing your kid to be one is dumb. Also, there are way more lucrative professional jobs to be had with a college degree than to be a doctor or scientist.

Most people pick useless majors. Or they pick majors with little to no job prospects.

On the other hand my niece for example has wanted to be a veterinarian since her was little. Now she’s in college going to school for it. Her goal is to have her own veterinarian office. Her mom has her own daycare so she was exposed to being an entrepreneur at an early age.

This is also why I prefaced this thread by putting kids on to business and finance at an early age.

It is better to support your children. You groom your child into doing what you think is best, you run the risk of pushing them down a path where they cannot realise their full potential.

Also, college isn't a waste of time. Major aside, there is a level of research, analysis, evaluation and discipline required to succeed.

The only I would stress “grooming” is critical think, and learning. If they decided to go to school, start a business or invent something, grooming them to be critical thinkers with a passion for learning at an early age into their high school years should be a minimum standard.

It was a joke!
A. Let your kids choose their future

B. "Entrepreneurs" are among the most annoying and stressful people to be around and work for
