Is it considered self-hate when a white woman tans, gets botox/implants.......

And if you have never said that on here then I apologize but there are certain people that seem to feel that way :mjpls:
I hope I've been clear on the site, but I'll put it out there again.
Women and men will do lots of things to enhance their appearance. I get it. Everyone wants to look their best.
Whether it's make up, working out, weaves, perfume, whatever.
Generally speaking, I'm against people doing things like plastic surgery to achieve a certain look for 2 reasons.
1. I think plastic surgery is masking a self-esteem issue. I read somewhere that women who get plastic surgery are 6 times more likely to commit suicide. Or something like that. It's a self-esteem/self-worth thing.
2. Just be natural. Butt implants? Boob implants? Just doesn't feel right to me. And that stuff can lead to health risks
The only exception I can think of is when women get plastic surgery for injuries or diseases. If you're a burn victim or had breast cancer...then by all means, do what you want to do.
You're right though. I guess there are black women with straight hair and white women that wear weaves.
But at the end of the day, I can't worry about what I think other people might be trying to be.

You're talking about tanning but what about botox...butt work...fat transfers...ect.?

@MsBigHead didn't specifically say that they are trying to be black...she asked are they trying to be like another race/ethnicity? They could be trying to be hispanic.

EDIT: OP actually did specify "black". She would have made a better argument had she not specified any particular ethnicity.
I think lots of cultures and races have certain features that the general public considers to be beautiful.
Whether it's Indian women and their hair, African women and their butts, Latinas and their hips, etc....
My feeling is that people who get plastic surgery are just trying to be beautiful or sexy..and whatever enhancement they do is just (more or less) taking 1 piece of the "sexy" pie...regardless of what race it seemingly comes from.
But, I really don't know. I can't speak to a person's intentions.
It's like...maybe there's a white guy who buys a fitted baseball cap. I could wonder if he really likes the Yankees, or if he's trying to be like Jay-Z.
I think it's pointless to wonder about it at all. Just let people live their lives.

i have a feeling in our minds its like white people cant self-hate lol. when in reality, they the ones doing the most to alter their bodies. but we somehow accept it.

but when black ppl bleach, asian get eyelid surgery etc. etc. we judge em way harsher. bleaching and regularly tanning is essentially the same thing. eyelid surgery and lips enhancement is essentially the same thing.

anyways i dont condone none of that shyt anyways

Its quite hilarious how black women have convinced themselves that white women tan to look like black women. Yeah :heh:

Tanning, while it can be harmful if done excessively, is somewhat natural. It doesn't matter if you're black, white or purple - if you go in the sun long enough, your body will produce melanin to protect the skin from harm. Applying hydroquinone to your face and body - which has mercury as an active ingredient- on your skin to obtain a lighter complexion is not normal. More importantly, one is strictly vanity driven - the other may be driven by vanity, but for most engaging in the practice, it is due to a feeling of low self worth and a desperate plea to be labeled by what they perceive as the criteria for beautiful in that particular society. Its' effects are more than skin deep(pun intended)

Everyone should avoid tanning beds, though. :mjpls:
