Is it just me. Or is just blaze a tad bit overrated?

Why should we give people credit for recording their own "samples" instead of sampling records

It makes no difference to the listener and it doesn't make the producer any doper for hiring some musicians to record an original "sample"

:comeon: you wanna give props for someone using a new technique to make the same old music

Compton had a sample in it and even if it didn't it would still be a tired retread of old beats

You do have a good point. Its not like these are original compositions that just blaze is coming up with when he hires studio musicians.

Point taken.

Hiring musicians does give you a lot more flexibility though because now you have all the instruments all tracked out and separated. Also helps for nice mix and mastering.
Perfect example would be Camron - Welcome to NY city.

Anyhow I guess you could say Just hasnt tried going outside the box as nearly as much as a Kanye has.

I still thought compton was def a BANGER and that just blaze is far from being in DJ premier status.

Nah what I'm saying is even if he's not using samples he's still basing the beats done with original recordings on past beats that were done with samples

it's like the opposite of Dre who made a huge change when he stopped sampling (funk loops -> sparse beats with piano and strings)... he just stayed making the same kinda beats regardless if there's a sample or not

but you have a point too I bet most of these soul sample sounding joints that don't have samples are based on old records with a few notes swapped here and there :youngsabo:

matter of fact it's blatant in some cases :youngsabo:

I didn't think people ranked him all that high for him to be overrated.

I think hes talented but pretty much echo everything that has been said in here. He hasn't switched it up much. He's getting DJ Premier status.

As a super preem stan I barely listen to his newer beats :to:

the thing that I hate the most about Just Blizzy is the fact that he's not a full time producer anymore, I mean he had more tracks on Freeway's album than he produced for the past two years (maybe even more) and the tracks he did with Em (both very talented imo) were underwhelming to say the least.

man yall nikkaz is crazy. Kanye and Alchemist use to be close to Just Blaze, but its not even close anymore dude got better over time. Kanye hasn't made a out cold beat in I don't know how long, Alchemist is the same as he's always been which isn't a bad thing, but Just is at a whole another level.

I would like to see some of the techniques he uses because he make a lot of producers beats sound cheap. Listen to a Just blaze beat from early 2000's, and listen to a Kanye or Alchemist from the same era I bet you Just Blaze shyt still hot and they're shyt sounds dated.

a little off topic but one thing i hate is producers that overdo it on the songs they produce i.e. constantly repeating their names on the track, letting people know what and how many songs they produce and just all around overbearing :comeon:

Just Blaze is one of them....young producer Young Chop is another one as well. :rudy:

i'd assume he is charging out the ass for his beats that aren't as good as they used to be, couldn't think of any other reason he is only making 5 beats a year max.

2005 price for a 2012 just blaze beat
