Is it safe to say GKMC was the album we hoped Lupe would make?

I'm not really sure what you mean by this or why its worth answering. Do artists get a pass for putting out wack shyt because they made some good stuff in the past? I want him to give us good albums. He hasn't done that since The Cool. He's capable of putting out classics, but he doesn't live up to that potential. Hopefully he snaps out of it like Nas did, but I think its perfectly acceptable for fans to be disapointed with his output post-The Cool, and no he doesn't get a pass for his early stuff, and no he hasn't exhausted his talent or potential which is what you seem to be indicating in a bizarre defense of him.

Well, I disagree. F&L II was dope. It wasnt classic like F&L & TC but it was dope.
What I mean is you made this thread and the initial post I quoted asking for something specific from Lupe: the thread implies you want a GKMC like album and the quote:

I guess what I meant by this thread is that Lupe sort of came out as something similar to how Kendrick is seen now. Basically, an average guy who grew up in adverse conditions. Not an outsider to the bullshyt, but not directly involved either. Maybe its just me, but I had hoped that a growing up in Chicago concept album, like |Kendrick did with LA, was going to happen. I could have sworn Lupe actually indicated such a thing at one point.

asks for something he's already given you ad nauseum... So the shyt youre asking for he's already done. So I'm asking you what is it that you want that he hasnt already given you? Again...

The question is simple. You seem to be dodging it because you want to cry... not only that, GKMC was borderline at best. Some nice production though.

Honestly, you seem more emotionally invested in this than I...

I don't want a GKMC type album from Lupe now because its already been made by Kendrick. But I think its along the lines of the type of album a lot of us expected to see from Lupe. I don't think he's already given us that. We've seen glimpses of it scattered among several releases, but nothing as cohesive as GKMC. I don't really see what's controversial about what I'm saying here.

LMAO, youre the one bytchin... I'm asking you a question you seem unwilling or unable to answer because it impedes on your whining. Now, youve admitted that Lupe has given you the songs youre looking for, so what youre whining about now is that he didnt place ONLY those songs on a disc for you. Seems like a pretty bytchmade thing to cry about in the age of mp3 players...

now that we've gotten to the base of your whining, carry on :shaq2:

I get you, fam.
Food & Liquor 1 (advance & retail) was that type of album, imo, and so was The Cool to a lesser extent. I think we lost the F&L and The Cool era Lupe when you was forced to drop his three album plan (he wanted to end with LupEND, but the label made him continue)

Lupe tends to avoid speaking on his life in general.

IF you listen to most of his music then you know they're trips through fiction.
He'd much rather spend his time coming up with metaphors for
the ghetto and it's inhabitants than speaking about his time amongst them.
Often opting to tell stories where he can inject and expand upon the cast
he created on F&L.

On top of that he seems to have become disillusioned with Hip Hop I don't think he has it in him to craft an album like Good Kid Maad City when he's more focused on his rock band, DJ'ing, Electronic Music and various other art projects.

I think his last two albums are indicative of that. Both seem to suffer from
an overall lack of direction and cohesiveness causing them to fail up against the more well thought out albums that dropped in the same year.

I don't expect much from the known Lupe stans, some of them fought tooth and nail back on :hamster: against any criticism of Lasers which I feel completely lacked any of the depth he exhibited on his previous albums and had a lot of weak barely passable lyricism.

All you ever showed in your arguments was that you were clueless... you try though, and thats worth something. Its true, on LASERS, that he did not hit us with a signature lyrically dense or extremely abstract song like Dumb It Down or Form Follows Function (he didnt have one on F&L either) but the content was the same and he was spittin... lookin at some of the trash people consider "lyrical masterpieces" LASERS was still light years ahead of lyrically...
