Is it safe to say GKMC was the album we hoped Lupe would make?

F&L was more lyrical than GKMC, but it didnt have the cohesive narrative and conceptual strength of Kendrick's album. Not to throw shade on Lupe, cause his debut was dope as fukk, but I think that particular Lupe is dead and gone...

Kendricks verses have more honesty in them. Lupe, while being one of my favorite artists doesnt give it to you straight with no chases. He camoflages his lyrics which is a great talent but sometimes you want the message without having to solve a rubix cube. I dont see how that helps people.

I'll take the best songs on F&L II over the best songs on GKMC all day. Strange Fruition, Put Em Up, Around My Way, ITAL, Form Follows Function, Lamborgini Angel, Brave Heart, Unforgivable Youth>>>>>>>

:why::why::why:

seriously what type of opinions are these :shocked::mindblown::wtf:

F&L2 sucked from start to finish

Lupe stans make me :dead::deadmanny:

I guess what I meant by this thread is that Lupe sort of came out as something similar to how Kendrick is seen now. Basically, an average guy who grew up in adverse conditions. Not an outsider to the bullshyt, but not directly involved either. Maybe its just me, but I had hoped that a growing up in Chicago concept album, like |Kendrick did with LA, was going to happen. I could have sworn Lupe actually indicated such a thing at one point.

Maybe live up to his potential that we saw on the first two albums and early mixtapes? His last two albums have been the biggest disappointments to me since I Am... and Nastrudamus...

his last album was actually good

dude is hated on a lot for realistically, one bad album that he knew was a bad album

dude had a classic, a great album, a good album, a bad album, several great mixtapes, and oe or two weak mixtapes...

all while doing and running everything [picking producers, writing, etc.[ on his ad his camps own

lupe never had a dr. dre helpig craft his music and without dre, kendrick cant make gkmc

You didnt answer the question. F&L II was dope as fukc... but I listen to lyrics. And he was spittin on LASERS, the production was just ass.

Lasers is garbage. I can't listen to that album. F&L II is average. I've given it multiple chances, but it just doesn't do it for me. He's capable of much better. We know it, he knows it.

What do you want him to give you that he already hasnt? Again...

I'm not really sure what you mean by this or why its worth answering. Do artists get a pass for putting out wack shyt because they made some good stuff in the past? I want him to give us good albums. He hasn't done that since The Cool. He's capable of putting out classics, but he doesn't live up to that potential. Hopefully he snaps out of it like Nas did, but I think its perfectly acceptable for fans to be disapointed with his output post-The Cool, and no he doesn't get a pass for his early stuff, and no he hasn't exhausted his talent or potential which is what you seem to be indicating in a bizarre defense of him.
