Is It Too Early To Say That This Dudley Boyz Run Is Amongst The Greatest Burials Of All-Time?

I don't think they've been "buried" as they were never really over enough (During this run) to be buried.

They came back in August last year...right around the time when New Day was *really* picking up steam...and nobody has deserved to go over ND for this year or most of 2015.

SummerSlam (2015) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
^ This was August 23th. For those that don't remember, this was the Brooklyn show, and that crowd seemed to be the first one to completely treat them as faces. They didn't officially face turn until later, but make no mistake, this was their coronation.

The Dudley Boys had their surprise appearance the next night on Raw. It was exciting, but I feel like it was *just* a tad bit too late for them to make a giant impact. Brooklyn made it clear that New Day had the juice.

They knew what they were signing up for however with that said, WWE is often very hypocritical when it comes to older talent. They get hung up on the classic line of "WCW died because they didn't build new stars", but they have no problem bringing back a 45 year old HHH to immediately dominate the main event spotlight and headline WM.

Now of course HHH put Roman over, but the Dudley's are still better than 75% of tag teams on the roster and yet they are subjected to jobbing out to scrubs on the pre-shows.

The Dudley's could have very easily had at least one good title reign in their final run.

That's the wwe`s faults tho.

New age outlaws had more freedom than the dudleyz.

You see how jericho is getting booked this time around. He's putting over guys, but he's having one of the best heel runs of the year.

Wwe`s crappy booking is reason for it flopping.
It was going to flop regardless because the Dudleys were stale back before the first draft. They were broken up then not to shock everyone, but because they were so fukking stale there was nothing left to do with them. That was 14 years ago. They're now in their mid 40s. It's like the Valiant Brothers coming back to the WWF in 1997 and expecting anyone to give a shyt.

I think they just happened to come back at the wrong time because the New Day had just started blowing up so all other tag teams got pushed aside to make way, and the Dudleys simply got caught in the fray. Remember they kept hyping up that the Dudleys were coming for their tenth tag team championship titles? That shyt got deaded quick the moment New Day got the juice.

Stale???:mjlol:

When they came back they damn near blew the roof of the building. Bubba had completely reinvented himself and the team hadn't been in the wwe for more than a decade.

Nowhere near stale.:heh:

Jericho is in the same age bracket and he's one of the best heels in the wwe all the while putting talent over. Age ain't even a factor.

Dudleyz were over for a few weeks just off of pure nostalgia and then they lost momentum. That's the wwe`s fault for not capitalizing on that. They never did anything noteworthy with them during their comeback.:aicmon:

They havent been booked to be great as heels they can be.

On top Bubba already said in an interview they're back to help younger teams.

Their bodies have to thanking them for how little they go through, no more unprotected chair shots, falling off ladders, getting slammed on ladders, put through multiple tables from the top of a ladder..

Uh...exactly. Nostalgia runs never last long. You remember why you got tired of them in the first place. Dudleys of 2016 are exactly the same team they were in 2002, but slower and fatter. No thanks.

That's why they were supposed to capitalize off of it by booking something with substance.

Wwe never gave us a reason to care(ie noteworthy fueds) so once the nostalgia factor wore off they were left with nothing.

Dudleyz are in better shape now than they were back in 02 btw.:dame:

Let Bully Ray get on the mic and be that perfect heel and let him go at whoever they want to get over, he can bring the heat.

There is nothing to capitalize on when you bring people back for nostalgia pops. You soak in those pops for a few weeks/months, then settle down into what they're really brought back for: Working with the younger talent. Which is what they've been doing. What they're doing now is what they were brought back for.

They were brought playing the same role as Jericho except that Jericho is actually being booked correctly.

Jericho is actually in noteworthy fueds. The dudleyz are not. That is what it comes down to.

They were not. They were brought into work with lower card guys, which is what they've done the entire time they've been back besides New Day, who were not nearly as big at the time as they are today.

:why:

They clearly were. They're veteran talent putting over younger talent. The only big difference is the booking. The dudleyz haven't been booked nearly as good as Jericho.

Jericho was brought back to be a semi-main eventer and get guys on the cusp ready for main event runs. Dudleys were brought back to wrestle dudes on Superstars. That's not being brought in for the same thing.
