if Eric B is so bad, how come Chris Lighty punked him and Suge in LA at a De La Soul concert?
details?
whatsup with violator nowadays

among hip-hop heads it's been known that eric b. punked and jerked large pro. shyt is fukked up but that's how he was. duke was suge knight before there was suge but unlike suge he wasn't just a fake thug, dude wasn't to be fukked with back then.
and eric b. wasn't the reason that g. rap was hiding out in AZ.
the following quote breaks down the real reason according to one of his producers who wished to remain unnamed but it's pretty much assumed that it's t-ray, who produced for the artifacts and alotta other cats in the mid 90's. dude caught alotta hate and was labelled a snitch when he said this a few years ago on a website but since it's out there already i'm gonna post it.
my man paul is a legend and top 5 producer all-time IMO but man did he have some fukked up luck in this rap game.![]()
that's crazy.
suge got punked out by lighty??
nah.......basically Suge was on Lyor's ass cause during negotiations over Warren's involvement with the ABOVE THE RIM soundtrack....he DIDN'T WANNA DEAL WITH THE "JEW BOY" ..he wanted either Russell or Kevin Liles.....when in reality Warren G. just decided to take a good offer from Def Jam and Suge was upset that Warren was fukking with this jewish cat from the east coast...
Suge seen him (lyor) at a west coast event and felt he was gonna "fukk him up on site"...but Chris Lighty stepped in and help "escort" a TERRIFIED lyor cohen from the venue...
Chris did it diplomatically without any muscle , because him and Suge had a relationship based on Suge doing alot of security work and promotions for Rush Management based acts that Chris Lighty was involved with while working for Russell back in the day out in the west coast
Violaters were never a "shakedown team" they just simply were the cats that Lighty's mentor DJ Red Alert used as a crew to provide street promotions and security at parties up in the bronx during the golden age of hip hop...Lighty just took the name VIOLATORS and incorporated into the infamous management /imprint that it is known for today..STRICTLY BUSINESS
Yes this a classic picture of the goons of NYC, you guys see Killa Ben profiling in the cut? This picture is rare Rakim actually smiling![]()
that's nothing.. until that tribe documentary came out.. nikkas still didn't believe me when I told them Q-Tip produced most of tribes music. They thought it was all ali shaheed muhammed.
Can you elaborate on Lighty's/Violator street connections/past?
I know they managed 50, Busta and other cats like Uncle Murda too. Gotta have some muscle behind them plus there is the whole Henchman beef.

the Violators like i said was a legitimate street promotions team for Red Alert's deejay parties and infamous radio show on 98.7 Kiss fm in New York..
prior to that alot of these guys were street cats running with the gods from uptown ....such as Violator member "Black Jesus" who was real cool with Just Ice "the Gangsta".....
These cats were basically dudes that Afrika Bambatta had cleaned up (civilized) thru efforts of his ZULU NATION and got them into the culture of hip hop...because during that time in the late 70's thier was a growing gang problem in the uptown areas of the bronx and harlem ...
this was long before the "CRIP/BLOOD" fascination of the mid 90's to today...
back then it was mostly gods(5%ers) and Latin Kings who held the streets down ....so basically cats like the Violators with thier strong 5% ties allowed alot of "hip hop" parties to go UNVIOLATED out in mt. morris park, bronx river center, hunts point and godsville....and so on.
Artists such as 50, Busta, Nore etc. just gravitated to Chris Lighty because he was a true professional with great networking skills and was part of that "pipeline" that led to Russell Simmons which was known for assimiliating the culture into a profitiable business...
plus it didn't hurt that Chris had a great rapport with the "street"...he knew the Supreme's, Fat Cats and Kevin Chiles.....
and he also had a great creative sense due to his interactions with Tribe, De La, Prince Paul and the group he was actually a member of the JUNGLE BROS with red alert's cousin Mike G.
As for the "HENCHMEN" beef i DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT![]()

It was easy to punk people back then, they didn't even make guns.
