GP one of the best two-way guards in NBA history. nikkas talking about Kevin Johnson like Payton didn't lock him up in the 93 WCF. Let's also not forget he was the leader of a perennial title contender with the 90's Sonics.

GP was a problem on both ends he could score and lock down the other team's best scorer. Only point guard to ever win DPOY and he's overrated? fukk outta here

He locked up KJ in the 93 WCF?

Kevin Johnson 93 WCF (7 games) - assists 49 / points 111
Gary Payton 93 WCF (7 games)- assists 28 / points 85

:dwillhuh:

whats till one you fakkits say Lebron top 3 PG

I would put Kidd about KJ and Payton slightly....Payton was just a different type of player and you cant overlook his defense....

that being said Kidd probally had the best court vision next to Magic in league history....

but that's not his main job. Magic is the greatest PG of all time and his career ppg doesn't even break 20.

It is your responsibility when you see your team struggling to score and you keep passing to role players because there's nothing you can do to take over the game. Magic could score 25-30-40 in the playoffs if his team needed it kidd could not

Honestly I have him at #2 . That Nets team was an absolute joke before he arrived. As soon as he shows up, Boom playoff appearances, finals appearances. I think Stockton has more assists, but playing with Malone/Sloan all career might be a knock. Oscar was probably more talented, but I never actually saw him play. All I know is I saw Kidd play and every team he was on won regardless of personnel.

The Knicks won 50+ games, win the division, and went to the second round for the first time in forever. It's not a coincidence that he just happened to be on the team. The guy just makes players better.

Considering he took scrubs all the way to the NBA finals twice, it obviously wasn't a problem.

That's not the point here. It's that PGs don't need to be scorers to be great.

His PPG and FG% in that series were both lower than his season averages in 92-93.

in '93, KJ's regular season: FG% 49 ppg 16.1

against Gary Payton in WCF: FG% 47 ppg 15.9

c'mon stop

KJ's numbers went down in that series compared to his numbers that season.

it's strange using totals when his averages were 16/7.

That said, KJ would probably have been > GP if he had stayed healthy.

Kidd totally remodeled his game after he started losing some of his old ability. Remember when folks use to not worry about his J?

Kidd has always had a 3-point shot, albeit streaky. He had those three straight seasons from '08-'10 where he shot over 40% from distance :ehh: but other than that, he's been the shooter he's always been.
