Has he been doing this all along?

I mean, J. Cole goes on songs and shyts on the nikka that signed him ALL the time and to the general public, it seems like Hov doesn't care....

Examples
1. Go hard like I just seen some nipples on Beyonce
No disrespect to HOV but if I didn't I'd be beyond gay

2. Trying to get Hov to fukk with me
With a burned CD full of jams that was up in my hand
When he said he didn't want it
It was, fukk him again
One day, he gon' regret playing me

3. Pac had a nikka saying fukk Jigga, fukk Biggie

4. Pac was like Jesus, Nas wrote the Bible

BUT, maybe he's taking it out on Cole with his actions or inaction in the label. He forced Cole to turn Friday Night Lights into a mixtape instead of his debut album and made him drop that dookie Cole World instead. He doesn't promote Cole at ALL. Doesn't hop on any songs with him. Dropped his album randomly 2 weeks after Cole's. Bigs up Drake more than his own artist. :patrice:

It all came to fruition last night during the announcements of the nominations. Had MCHG not dropped when it did, Cole most likely would have been nominated for RAOTY. Had MCHG not dropped when it did, Cole probably would go on to win an award in the only category he's nominated in, (Rap/Sung Collab) but instead, Holy Grail and Part II (On the Run) are also nominated and let's be real...because Beyonce and JT are involved, Hov will win.

Idk brehs, seems like sabotage to me :manny:

There is no Jay-Z shadow....I remember being excited about J.Cole, then started realizing his whole persona and style has the intensity and energy of a Brahms lullaby
I mean Cole has kinda been stinkin it up lately but you're buggin if you don't think there is a "shadow"

I'm not saying they get along because it's obvious that's not the case, but people keep saying Cole rides Jay'a coattails now and there couldn't be anything further from the truth. If Jay was on his tracks, promoting him like that, nikkas would claim Cole couldn't have his success without the cosign (which people already do). Cole can't win for losing it seems...Bottom line, Cole built his own lane. Nobody listens to J. Cole because he's signed to Jay's label. That's nonsense.

didnt even give him a feature, but he made time to give one to Drake though :youngsabo:

I'm pretty sure cole said he wanted to be the only person to rap on his cd

Exactly and they wanna keep it that way, don't want him to be bleek 2.0

He doesn't even have a Rihanna feature 2 CDs in :umad:

Cole seem to really have a lot of creative control over his albums, if he wanted Rihanna he could get her. Maybe he wants success without all the huge names.

jay is a terrible label owner.

Dude is letting all his big artists dropping an album at the same time... that shyt would never happen with someone else (ie: Dr Dre)

Cole's first album debuted at number 1 and went Gold. Cole's second album debuted at number 2 and went Gold. Both album's singles garnered Grammy nominations...

So "sabotage" isn't the word. Overshadowing might be the case but J.Cole stands on his own. His album was one of the best of the year and he went toe to toe with Kanye.
